One of Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews. Carnegie Porter was brewed for the first time in 1836 and tastes the same today as it did then. Carnegie Porter has a creamy head with a scent of coffee. Its sweet and wellrounded flavor is balanced by the bitterness of the hops. Storage helps the flavor mature and enhances its harmony.

1997, tasted 2002. Cuban coffee, dark chocolate, raisins, port, tied together extremely well by a bitterness that comes equally from hops and roast. Probably the best porter I’ve had. And the old-school label would get it extra points if I wasn’t already giving it a perfect score.

2006**Pours midnight brown w/ a shallow, semi creamy froth that reduces to a fine lace around the edges. Aromas of buttery baked brownies, cocoa, molases, and nuts. Awsome! Medium to full nectar w/ ample residual effers. The sweetness factor is mild w/ molases and cakebread pushing forward. Moderately roasted w/ coffee bean and bakers cocoa, tree bark, leather, nuts, pecan shells. Perfect hops to malt ratio for an excellent balance. The finish bitters perfectly leaving a parched feeling on the palate. This brew is among my top three favorite porters to date. Highly recommended. Connoisseurs Choice !

This is the world-class Swedish porter that is unknown in Sweden! This beer is the best porter in the world! It has layers of flavor that you will not find in any other beer due to long fermenting and lager times. It is a bigger contribution the world than even Abba, Björn Borg, or IKEA!

This is the porter I have been looking for. So full of different flavors and aromas. The smell is interesting, it has soma coffey and chocolat reminders. Flavor is sweet roasty and a bit metallic, but bitter. Sweet and bitter is very balanced. The feeling is musty and in a way creamy. I think its a hit and a reminder of christmas, perfekt for christmas.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2004 Great Porter! The aroma and taste were filled with chocolate, woody, licorice, alcohol, coffee, and sweet tones. The appearance was completely black, but when I held it up to sunlight a little red shown through. Magnificent porter!

This was yummy. The conditioning of this beer is outstanding. Smooth Chocolate/Coffee malt flavor. Hops have been reduced to the background (through conditioning). Aroma has that beautiful, fruity, toffee, oxidized note that makes every sip enjoyable. This beer stands out and is worth seeking. I must warn everyone about mistreated bottles, though......
