Like sucking on Marzipan. bitter, fake-tasting almond. The flavor is overpowering and sticks with you. Does not clean up well. johnnnniee (4374) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 29, 2011
Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights and a tan head that sticks around for a while. Smells of roasted malts, cherries, nuts. Tastes of cherry, nuts, roasted grains, sugary syrup. Thick sweet body and mouthfeel. Ample carbonation. Interesting brew. I really enjoyed the novelty of the first few sips, but after a while the sweetness took over and made it less appealing. obguthr (6525) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - SEP 23, 2009
Marzipan and fig aroma with soy sauce undertones. Dark brown with a medium tan head. Sweet at first but considerably drier at midpalate ending almost tart. Thin mouthfeel. Charred oak, licorice, and peat flavors. Nice creativity and very drinkable. Not a stellar beer, but I enjoyed it quite well. shp555 (2024) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - APR 21, 2009
Pours an opaque black color with a brown head. Aroma is dominate sugary almond milk, light chocolate notes, maybe some caramel in the background, and a touch of roast. Flavor is caramel, almond milk, chocolate, roast, and a light bitter finish. cheap (5958) - Beaver Valley, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 20, 2009
From a bottle at the Charlotte airport. Good looking black pour with a little tan creamy head which fades insantly. Sweet almond aroma is a tad off. Volatile at times. Wierd almond nutty flavor reminds me breifly of amaretto. Stouty fer sure but that almond flavor is overiding and hides the godd stoutiness that’s in there. OK for a one timer but will not buy again. Finish is again overiding imitation somewhat almonds.

Bottle thanks to SaCkErZ9 at BA. Black with dark brown at the edges and a thin light tan head that settles quickly. Aroma is roasty malt, lots of chocolate and chocolate milk, vanilla, and toasted almonds. Light body and the taste is simpler than the aroma. Mostly light roasted malts and light chocolate than strong almond finish. Dogbrick (13384) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 20, 2008
Thanks to rogueone for the bottle (by way of ucusty). The beer pours nearly black with a medium brown head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Lots of almond in the nose along with a bit of hazelnut and coffee. Medium-bodied with flavors of almond, toasted malt and cocoa. The finish is roasty and nutty with notes of almond and chocolate, and a mild amaretto coffee aftertaste. Overall the beer tastes good and would be top shelf if it had some more body. 12 oz bottle from elmatador00. Black with a thin beige head. Nice almond and choco-coffee nose, vanilla and roasty malt. Silky body, albeit a tad thin. Flavor follows the nose, a pretty pleasant beer. aubreya (676) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - AUG 24, 2008
The pour was dark brown/black. The head was thin, creamy, light biege. The aroma had some amaretto, was sweet, caramel, chocolate. The flavor was roasty, tart, coffee, malty, chocolate. The palate was average. The finish was tart. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - AUG 7, 2008
Bottle; pours a thick and dark brown with an average brown head. Surprisingly good aroma; chocolate, caramel, vanilla and almonds/toffee. Pretty easy drinking beer. Roasted malt, semi-sweet chocolate, caramel and vanilla. Flavor could have been a bit fuller and more pronounced, but I was surprised by the quality of this.
