Carolina Beer Co. Cottonwood Endo India Pale Ale

RATINGS: 333   WEIGHTED AVG: 3.24/5   IBU: 66   EST. CALORIES: 180   ABV: 6%
True to it’s roots, this American IPA delivers on the floral, hoppy notes that made Cottonwood a Boone favorite. 100% malted barley and copious amounts of Cascade, Magnum, and Chinook hops do the trick, artfully brewed by Foothills

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with a light touch of hops. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also light notes of hops. A low key IPA.

Hazy amber-red colour. Woody, bitter orange aroma with earthy, brown sugar malts. Quite sweet on the palate, sticky crystal malts dominate the woody, earthy hops. Bump up the scores a bit if you dig lots of crystal in your IPA.

Bottle. Poured a clear copper color with an average off-white head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate hoppy citrus and malt aroma. Medium body with stick texture. Medium balanced bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of average duration. Solid drinkable brew.

How do you rate a beer that gives you exactly what you expect from an American IPA? There’s nothing special about it, but there’s no disappointment either. Floral hoppy aroma, strong hoppy flavor complemented by sweet and fruity maltiness. Good aftertaste loaded with bitterness.

12-oz. bottle. Pours clean hazel nut brown with a small foamy tan sticky head and some lined lacing. Citrus rind hop and light caramel malt aroma, heavy grapefruit nose. Medium acdic and bitter hoppy rind flavor with a caramel malt body and some yeast notes near the end. Medium bodied and fizzy, lightly creamy palate.

This is kind of a run-of-the-mill IPA courtesy of City Beverage in Winston-Salem. After popping the twist-off cap, this beer pours a dark amber/orange with a very thin off-white head. Very little lacing. Aroma of hops and light citrus. Medium-bodied and a borderline thin at times, with flavors of hops, citrus and some malt. The finish is lightly bitter. A little on the simple side overall but nothing offensive.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with Suttree (thanks!). Poured a dark and slightly hazy copper color with a huge (4 finger) sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, lightly spicy, caramel and a it has a light earthiness to it. Tastes of citrus, lighter caramel with a lightly spicy finish. I expected more of a bitter bite. Body on the thin and bordering on watery side.
