COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally, this intensely hopped ale was brewed in the 18th century to survive the long sea journey from the cooler breweries in England, around the Cape of Africa to India where the temperatures were too warm to brew. This beer has a unique floral aroma from the generous addition of Cascade hops to the fermenter in a procedure known as dry hopping.

12 oz. can from South Carolina. Pours a clear amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have some citrus, mild resin, a touch of earth with a pale, toasted malt base, some aged hop character, pretty average overall.

Pours clear dark gold with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus, earth, stone fruit. Taste is bitter hops with malt in the middle, bitter finish. Not bad but not what I look for in an IPA.

Old rating. Pretty generic IPA. Copper pour. Grassy and light bittering hops. Stale malt body. Much better options out there.

Rich deep hazy copper coloured body with a light bronze glow and a thick, seven centimetre tall soapy , billowy off-white head. Aroma of yeast, alcohol, light hops, malt, soap and a hint of earthiness. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and slightly herbal hops show well up front with a light but relatively balanced malt body and a hint of earthiness from the malt lingers on the palate. Aftertaste shows a very smooth, especially for the style, finish of citrus-based hops and a touch of cardboardie malt. Overall, a nice IPA that borders on the lighter side, but full of hops and a very easy-to-drink body. This is like a cross between a light IPA and a full IPA, and makes for a nice summer drink, for sure! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Total Wine in Cary, North Carolina on 02-August-2014 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 10-November-2014.
