3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Linda’s in Chapel Hill. Red coloring with a small off-white head. The mouthfeel was very full with a flavor full of orange, ginger, and cinnamon. A great brew for a cold day.
16 oz can at the 2017 AJF.
Pours with a hazy brown body and a decent head.
Aroma is that expected in a lightly spiced American brown ale.
More spiced and less hops in the flavor.
Medium body and carbonation.
Overall: disappointing. HighlanderOne (1330) - York, SC via NJ, South Carolina, USA - DEC 18, 2016
Growler from Grapevine Cafe. Spice and brown sugar in aroma. Orange amber, barely a head. Tasting the cinnamon and other spices, along with the brown sugar, sweet malt, coriander. Palate is a bit thin. Overall, nice flavors, but a little on the bland side. Travlr (24875) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - DEC 21, 2015
Draft. Clear deep amber brown color, tan head. Aroma of clove, cinnamon, nutmeg. Taste has huge spice, thin body. Mostly spice. Drake (13739) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 9, 2015
Can shared at the 10th Annual Epic & Unusual Beer Tasting, 11/29/15. Hazy orange, thin fizzy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel, spice. The taste is toasted malt, caramel, mild spice. Thin. Meh. biznizness (1128) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - DEC 24, 2011
First rating in almost a year. I thought this was pretty good. Had it at JJ Wasabi’s in Mooresville. Waitress thought it was made by Carolina BEER (Carolina Blonde) and I was really surprised to get something this solid. Nothing out of the ordinary for a Xmas beer... nice amber color, not too dark though, some good spice and just solid overall.

Growler shared by wilkie. Pours clear amber with a medium, creamy off-white head, medium retention with fair lacing. Aroma is spices, caramel, nutty, and toast malt with fruity esters; somewhat lightstruck. Flavor is malty with spices, light chocolate notes, toast, fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation, low warmth. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 2, 2011
Growler, thanks wilkie. Crystal clear amber body topped by small off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, coriander, light vegetal. Taste is medium sweet, herbal, coriander, some vegetal/skunk. Light-medium body. durhambeer (2500) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - DEC 6, 2010
On tap. Pours light brownish amber with moderate head. Nose shows moderate spice, which comes out more on taste. Good combination of spices, and not overdone; but still not my favorite style. chandler0201 (650) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - SEP 13, 2010
Aroma of sweet and spice some cinnamon, some nutmeg, very good spices of the season. Organish color at pour with little to no head. Flavor was less pronounced, more spices but kind of watery. brewski519 (644) - Morrisville, North Carolina, USA - DEC 31, 2009
Tried this first at the Black Friday Cask Festival at Triangle Brewing - tried it again today on tap at Papa Mojo’s in Cary NC... pours a clear copper with a thin white head - decent lacing. Aroma of malt, ginger, plenty of allspice and pumpkin... taste is malty, spicy and again, lots of pumpkin... acually tastes more like a fall pumpkin beer than a winter brew to me. Not a bad beer by any means though - just not one I could drink more than 1 or 2 of.
