Draft at the brewpub: this, I thought, was a kick ass wheat. Poured cloudy butterscotch yellow with a full thick white head. Banana and clove aroma with a bit of coriander. Full bodied and yeasty. Very nice. Well done Carolina! GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - AUG 2, 2005
UPDATED: MAY 27, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Served with a lemon. Straw colored, hazy. Estery aroma and flavor. Yeast and banana flavors. Very refreshing. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUL 15, 2008
Growler. Nose is wheat, lemon, citrus and yeast. Flavor is similar. Very clean, very easy drinking. Didn’t taste much of banana flavors I am used to tasting if my hefes. Could of sworn this was just an american wheat ale. Solid effort from carolina brewery and much more drinkable than a few of their offerings. Draught. Appears a cloudy (but not overly cloudy as some wheats can be) golden yellow with small thick head. Aromas of typical banana and clove and nutmeg along with some sweet malt. No hop aroma present. Flavor is sweet, fruity, spicy and yeasty with a bit of hop bitterness. More banana than spice so probably fermented a bit warm. Finishes dry. Fairly full bodied with a smooth feel. Good weissen. tronraner (2459) - Walland, Tennessee, USA - JUL 24, 2007
Draught at the brewpub. Pours cloudy yeloow with white head. The aroma is banana and clove with hearty yeast notes. The flavor is banana and clove of course, with slight toasty and a wisp of zest in the finish. A kick of raw wheat flavor comes out in the aftertaste. Pretty good.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2010 Re-rate. Probably one of my favorite brews from them. Not saying much. Pours a cloudy lemon rind yellow with a one finger foamy white head. Nose is earthy and wheaty with some yeast, isoamyl acetate, clove, and citrus zest. Flavor shows some mild clove and spice with banana in the background and a mild tartness. Round crisp mouthfeel with a mild tartness. kmweaver (3207) - Petaluma, California, USA - JUL 13, 2008
Growler, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of TURDFERGUSON. Thanks, Sam! Pours a hazy golden color; fluffy white head with good retention and mixed-bubbled lacing. Wheatiness, light citrus, and doughy yeast in the aroma; dry, crisp, husky. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy yeastiness, citrus, minerals, and breadiness upfront; average carbonation; light acidity coming through; very drinkable stuff. Medium finish: breadiness, wheat, and citrus; ends quite dry and crisp. RCL (2030) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 3, 2006
Good but short of great. The banana and clove really comes through on this one. Not as cloudy as many hefes I have tried, almost flirting with a kristal. Tasty beer. elmatador00 (519) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - JUL 20, 2008
Growler. Pours a cloudy golden color with a white head. Typical aroma of wheat brew. Tastes typical. Fruity taste, which I was surprised to taste. Finishes not so clean, yet it was still pleasant. OldGrowth (3474) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - OCT 19, 2008
pint at Pittsboro location. Ok aroma, sweet, Toasted wheat, clove, citrus. Hazed golden yellow color, small head, no lace. Bitter sharp flavor.Like aroma though the yeast characteristics are more pronounced. Lite body, creamy smooth mouthfeel, Spicy dry finish. This may have tasted better due to circumstance, flavor had a lot going on. Classic American hefe.
