Good flavor, but nothing special in general. Nice blend of
roasted malt and caramel flavor, but hops are almost
undetectable. It is better than Sam Adam's version of
Oktoberfest, but certainly not the best I have had. brownaler (742) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - SEP 30, 2004
An easy drinking oktoberfest that is packed with flavor regardlessly. CBC’s beers are usually on the dry side, and this is no exception. DukeBrewDevil (732) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - NOV 16, 2007
Draft. Golden color, fizzy head, big soda-like bubbles visible within the beer. Sweet smelling lager with caramel notes. Tasty and sweet. I get a bit of honey, especially in the aftertaste. Even a hint of peppery spice. brewski519 (644) - Morrisville, North Carolina, USA - SEP 5, 2009
On tap at the brewery - pours an amber color with a frothy tan head. Aroma of malt, toffee, hops, and caramel. Solid balanced malty taste with toffee, caramel and a sweet finish. Nice Oktoberfest from a solid local brewer. scotchzombie (622) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - OCT 13, 2013
Pours mostly clear copper amber. With a frothy off-white head that settles to a fair coating for awhile and then a ring. Not much lacing. Aroma is a bit of skunky bread. Taste is more astringent than expected out of a 'fest. Some sweet caramel malt that is buried by earthy noble hop bitterness, but very little flavor on the front of the palate. There is some nice nuttiness towards the finish. Mild carbonation and quite dry. I think Carolina Pale Ale is a very nice local (Raleigh) session brew, but even for a fan of Oktoberfest beers, this is just mediocre.

UPDATED: NOV 8, 2005 Keg. Pretty amber with a white head. Very smooth drinking, but with the signature Carolina hop character and bitterness. Perhaps a little too much bitterness, but not unpleasant. Aroma was very light. Citrus perhaps? Maltyness was the highlight; tasted right for cold weather. Warming effect was unexpected. hurleymanvw (101) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - APR 17, 2005
Amber in color with a nice caramel malt flavor. It has some small hop compliment but not to over do it. Very drinkable beer and a nice seasonal beer. KaiserKolsch (38) - USA - OCT 3, 2007
Exceptional on draught, very smooth and sweet initially with a comparable aftertaste to the Spaten oktoberfest singlelensrefl (24) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - OCT 25, 2004
Dark amber in color with a thin off white head. NIce aromas. Malty and caramel flavors, and a nice, slight tough of hops. Very Enjoyable.
