Guerde (1297) - Leuven, BELGIUM - MAY 29, 2008
(bottle, thanks to Skyview for bringing this in) Pours light gold with a white head. Aroma has smells of coriander, orange peel, and a little deer sausage-like smell as well. The aroma becomes more sweet as it warms. The taste is decent for a saison, with a lot of yeast, light funkiness, and spice as well. Medium mouthfeel, with a dry finish. badgerben (5131) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAY 26, 2008
OSLO and Guerde’s Memorial Weekend Tasting, 5/23/08. 2007 Vintage, bottle 53. Many thanks to Skyview for this rare Montana treat. Cloudy gold color with a bit of a head. Spicy and yeasty aroma. Strongly phenolic taste. Vegetal and grassy hop. Lots of the barnyard funk and dry finish. Quite a delicious brew. Stine (1780) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 23, 2008
Poured from 750 ml bottle number 53. Lightly hazy blonde straw. Funky, dirty fruit and grass aroma; coriander, pear, orange peel. Bit of powdery green pepper and some flaky pastry sweetness. Seems pretty clean after a while. Flavor is a crispy white cereal grain and a lot of peppery, funky spice. Milky fruit sweetness; somewhat nondescript, if certainly quenching and satiating with a crisp, sunny character. Palate is soft and punchy, light in body, easygoing and sparkly. Calm rindy fruitiness in a pillowy finish. No special moments, really, but a pleasing rendition still. Thanks Bob! hopdog (12486) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 14, 2008
750ml bottle acquired in trade. 2007. Poured a medium to deeper and hazy yellow color with a medium sized white head. Aromas of citrus, orange peels, spices, and yeast. Tastes of spices, doughy yeastiness, citrus, and straw. egajdzis (6502) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 13, 2008
Poured a hazy golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of hay, citrus fruits, coriander, ginger, toffee, and yeast. Taste of wheat malts, more ginger, and other spices (coriander), toasted dough, honey / toffee, some pepper, and a dry finish.

Thanks Skyview. 2007 vintage. Bottle #54. The beer pours to a brassy amber body with a white head and tons of spotty lacing. The aroma is spicy coriander, oranges, subtle sulfur, and tons of yeast. Lots of nice saison aromas going on. The flavor is sweet, lots of pale malts, straw, yeasts, and spicy coriander. Medium full bodied but refreshing. Hazed and pale gold in color with icy white cloisters stirring on top. Ragweed, pollen and sweet cream join a nose lovely laden with honey rose, white blossoms and sweet tangerine for a nice shine on the end of the nostrils. Flavor proceeds with a sweet wheat trait, emitting candied lemons, chamomile, cackled pepper and spicy apple ginger candies. Supple carbonation hugs to the sweet orange peel. Sweet cola cardamom traits ride the flavor currents with a hint of honey and sweet bread to provide the substantive backbone. Cleaved white pepper gets the finish and dries out as it should. Thanks, Bob! BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - DEC 17, 2007
Cheesehead YeAH 2007, thanks Bob (Skyview): Golden hue with a fizzy head which left good lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of acidic pear and apple, funky cobweb yeast, white pepper and coriander, grassy hops, roasted malt and a hint of sea salt. The taste has a nice spiced and fruit character along with dry grains and toast. Herbal and even more spice upon the finish. The best part of this beer is the tight carbonation which is sprite and very refreshing, cuts through the spice. A wonderful overall brew and a nice surprise indeed. Thanks to Bob for bringing this one, too! 2007 bottle #54. Poured hazy medium golden with a short cap of white head. The aroma was lightly skunky at first, but really nice when it had the chance to breathe.. lemon zest and funky, spicy yeast came through along with dried floral notes and white pepper.. complex and spice-centric, with the initial off notes dying off completely. The flavor found tart lemon and black pepper spicage on the tip of the tongue, and the spices were even more intense at the back and through the finish (almost to a fault).. pale and bready pils-type sweetness at the core.. very good, but a touch too spicy for my liking. Medium-bodied and spicy on the palate with a nice flow to it. Very glad I got to try this! Skyview (5942) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - DEC 17, 2007
Picked up 22-oz bomber at the Carter’s Brewing Company in Billings, Montana. Shared at Cheesehead YeHA. Pours a hazy blonde brew with a decent thick white head that has some good retention and lacing. First time I’ve seen lacing inside the bottle as well. Aroma of large yeast complex, coriander, light toasted bready malt, a touch of pepper and some orange zest. Taste is medium bodied, some upper carbonation with flavors of yeast, bready malt and enough coriander. Finish is soft, a touch of spiced yeast and a coriander aftertaste. A very good balanced saison.
