Had this on draught at the brewery. Definitely worth the six bucks for a little eight ounce glass. Smells sour and apple-y but tastes deliciously beer-y. I was worried that the apples would dominate and that would be a sweet beer, but it’s more like a light sour beer with some apple flavor that accentuates the sourness the lacto makes.
Sweet and sour prominent apple notes, little bit of lactic flavors, but ends with an odd toothpaste like funk riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - OCT 29, 2011
Nose is nice and sweet natural apple notes, almost cidery, but still with beer notes, light lactic tartness is there as well as light sweet vanilla notes. Pours golden, thin white ring around the edges. Nice sweet fresh apple flavors, a little cidery, a little vanilla, light lactic tartness in the finish. Lightly carbonated, light spice, pleasant apple flavors linger. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - OCT 28, 2011
Draft at NCBC. Pours a clear and bright coppery light amber. Loose fish-eye film around the edges of the top. Big sweet red apple nose, very pie-like. Smells very natural, just very much on the sweeter side, like a Fuji. Creamy lightish body with subdued carb. Very sweet, very much dominated by apples. I can see where the name came from for sure. Pleasant and drinkable, has just enough tartness and acidity to keep it refreshing and out of the dessert realm, but it’s a sweet one without a doubt. On tap at Cascade with Carla. Pours hazy yellow with white foam. Smells like sweet sour granny Smith apples. Tastes lightly sour with hints of Apple core and a hint of cinnimon.

A: The beer pours a clear golden color with a small white head.
S: Smells like apples, so at least it’s got that going for it. It’s slightly sweet and only slightly sour. There are notes of straw and grass with a mild oak aroma. A pretty simple nose on this.
T: Moderately sour with lots of straw and grass. There is some apple flavor, but it’s not all that powerful of a flavor. A mild oak note as well as strong lactic and lemon flavors.
M: The body is fairly light with medium carbonation.
O: Nice and drinkable, but it didn’t really blow me away and didn’t have as much apple character as I was hoping for.

2011 batch on tap. Pours with a hazed yellow body and a small white head. Aroma of spiced and baked apples, nice sharp fruit, a bit sweet, cinnamon, a bit of a sweetness. Some pie crusts. Flavors are lactic, light funky. Huge bready and biscuit notes. Sharp fruit, light spice and some oak. Lively bubbles, dry. Really odd, but I like it! Very interesting beer overall! A hazed blonde ale with a very thin white head. In aroma, a sweet lactic apple, with light acidic points. In mouth, a smooth acidic apple with light cinnamon notes, apple skin, malic acid, not bad. On tap at brewpub July 31 2011. beersearcher (2382) - Glendale, California, USA - AUG 24, 2011
One tremendous beer. Great spice aroma and just a touch of apple. The flavor is the same but adding a hint of sour and tart to round it out. Easy to drink as eating a piece of pie. Alphadelic (2244) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 28, 2011
Honeyed yellow, cloudy. A very tart gooseberry nose with boozy hints. A sour hit then a barrage of vanilla bean, decadent and sticky. Lemon meringue pie comes to mind with the lemon sourness and vanilla. A little too sticky. Hot in the throat.
