2009. Dark plum aroma, little coffee liquor. And raspberry. Dark slick brown. Wet barrel, little smoky, bruised apple blossom finish. Beardface (1517) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - DEC 14, 2010
Tap at the brewpub. Deep brown pour with a big, foamy tan head. Smells of chocolate, brown sugar, caramel and a light bit of sourness. Tastes a lot more sour than it smells, but with the chocolate, brown sugar, caramel and some light cinnamon still being around as well. I enjoyed this beer quite a bit, much like everything else I had at Cascade. NachlamSie (3534) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 31, 2012
12 oz. pour at Brouwer’s. pours near black with thick lacing. The aroma is of vanilla wafers, malt vinegar, peppers, chocolate, clove, dark fruits. . .this is seriously complex stuff. Palate is creamy. It takes a few sips to get what’s going on here, it’s overwhelming my palate in a delightful way. I find notes of sour fruit, chocolate, pepper, crackers, licorice and assorted baking spices. I really enjoyed drinking this one, if nothing else for how much it flexed my palate. Unusual, but nice porter. Viscous brown appearance. Shy nose, full bodied with a spicy palate. Meaty finish accented by fennel/anise. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 20, 2010
UPDATED: OCT 11, 2010 Soured version poured straight from the barrel at Cascade’s Barrel House... Poured dark reddish/brown with a bubbly, khaki head. A soured porter, offered some nice acidity to the slight cocoa. Mild tartness and a nice brown sugar bitter sourness.

[Original Rating: 2/20/2010] Tap @ Horse Brass Pub... Poured dark brown with a thin head. Aroma of cocoa malts and well spiced. A nice resinous of orange peel shined here which meshed, blended, yet contrasted to the dark, cocoa-like malts. A hint of other spices, but mostly rounded with a smooth, chocolatey, malt tone. Clean finish, that had a slight sticky sweetness at the end.
Nose of roasted dark malts, patent notes, licorice, bubblegum, cinnamon, Belgian yeast notes. Nice aroma. Pours more or less black, creamy tan head with great staying power and lace. The flavor is nice and roasty with dark malts, nice balanced spice notes, cinnamon, licorice, nutty notes. Lingering sweet yeast and dry dark malt notes. Great smooth mouthfeel, wonderful carbonation. A really nice beer here. thebeerbeast (12) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 13, 2011
Not the most flavorful beer they have created but a solid Belgian style Porter, accurate description. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - MAR 17, 2011
Draft at ncbc. Pours black with a dense and.creamy tan mousse that really lasts and lasts, leaving plenty of sheeting lace. Gorgeous. Mild sweet nose, a little figgy, some dates, some licorice, definitely more to the yeast side than the malt side. Creamy medium body with nicely present but understated carb. Roasty, chocolatey, much less fruity on the tongue than the nose. Finishes almost dry, just a bit of malty sugar. Tasty, understated. BrewDad (5328) - Olympia, Washington, USA - DEC 16, 2010

A Belgian Porter I have never heard of. Brown in color, clear with a thin head.
Nice spices nutmeg and added cinnamon in the aroma. There is a fruitiness added to the sour and dark malts. Finished smooth and dry.
On tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a hearty treacle flavor and lots of spices and a chocolate finish. Pretty tasty.
