12 oz. pour at Brouwer’s. pours near black with thick lacing. The aroma is of vanilla wafers, malt vinegar, peppers, chocolate, clove, dark fruits. . .this is seriously complex stuff. Palate is creamy. It takes a few sips to get what’s going on here, it’s overwhelming my palate in a delightful way. I find notes of sour fruit, chocolate, pepper, crackers, licorice and assorted baking spices. Wow was this interesting! Poured an expected dark brown with a dark brown head. Character is marzipan, sweet black patent, burnt fruit, raisin, caramel, nutmeg. Sampled on tap at Cascade Brewpub, pours a dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma of anise, cinnamon, ginger and chocolate. Nose of roasted dark malts, patent notes, licorice, bubblegum, cinnamon, Belgian yeast notes. Nice aroma. Pours more or less black, creamy tan head with great staying power and lace. The flavor is nice and roasty with dark malts, nice balanced spice notes, cinnamon, licorice, nutty notes. Lingering sweet yeast and dry dark malt notes. Draft at ncbc. Pours black with a dense and.creamy tan mousse that really lasts and lasts, leaving plenty of sheeting lace. Gorgeous. Mild sweet nose, a little figgy, some dates, some licorice, definitely more to the yeast side than the malt side. Creamy medium body with nicely present but understated carb. A Belgian Porter I have never heard of. Brown in color, clear with a thin head.
Nice spices nutmeg and added cinnamon in the aroma. There is a fruitiness added to the sour and dark malts. Finished smooth and dry.
