On tap at the barrel house.
From notes on 04AUG12
Ruddy, rusty brown with little foam and a glassy surface, a rim of light tan foam. Smells of lacto-tart, cherries, oak (subdued), vanilla and hints of medicine and grains with muddled leaves. Nice tart flavor up front - moreso than most Bruin’s I’ve had. The oak is complimentary and integral to the flavor profile, rather than a domineering character, which I often dislike in Bruins. Cherries, oak, malts, leather and the slightest alcohol in the flavor. Medium on full bodied with low carb and a slightly slick finish. I like this beer better than most Bruin’s, but not nearly as much as other Cascade beers.
Serving type: on-tap

A hazed brown ale with a thick big bubbled frothy brown head. In aroma, a nice lactic malt with light floral hops, vinous touches. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with light acidity, faint cinnamon, nice and malty, with light woody notes. On tap at Portland brewery, Oct. 7 2012. Deep amber pour with a surprisingly persistent head. Lots of vanilla aroma adds a bit of vineousness as does the sort of toasted barrel flavour. Leather and dry tobacco that add a lot of interest as well. Awesome stuff.

On tap 4 oz. sample at Churchill's Pub in San Marcos, CA.
Clear, dark mahogany with tan head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of raspberry, sour cherries, wood and caramel.
Taste of raspberry, sour cherries, roasted caramel malt, oak, leather and sour mixed berry mash with a touch of molasses.
Medium body and medium/high carbonation.

Slightly hazy cola colored pour, practically no head. Dark fruit, heavy oak barrel, vinegar, sweet toffee, and moderate sourness. For a Cascade beer this is lightly sour, with a sweet oaky flavor. Nice break from the super acidic sours.

Pours a brownish/dark amber with a khaki colored head. Nose is heavy on the oak with a slight charred wood note to it. Slight cola sweetness with a touch of dark fruit and caramel. Vinegar sourness on the aroma with some hints of chocolate. The flavor is moderately tart with a definite vinegar flavor. A touch of sherry, some dark fruits, and a moderate sweetness of chocolate, cola, and caramel. As with the aroma, lots of oak/barrel character, too. maekchu (3856) - Hirakata, JAPAN - AUG 29, 2012
Draught at Cascade Brewing Barrel House. Beautiful aromas of mild coffee, oak-aged fruit, and vanilla. Clear ruby-tinted brown, flat. Deep mellow fruitiness in initial; some heat emerges in mid palate and mild dark fruit flavor begin rising; finish is fine, rich, and smooth, like a dessert wine. Medium body. A winner. The aging has mellowed the sourness and created a rich, pleasing fullness. Bacterial (2986) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - AUG 18, 2012
On tap at Cascade Barrel House. Smoke, toffee and oak in the nose. Tart, wood, and yummy. Smurf2055 (1400) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 18, 2012
Dark brown with minimal head. Smell tart lactic. Taste oak up front, vinegar finish. More wood and thicker than I would have liked. madvike (3250) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 16, 2012
On tap at the Barrel House - Pours ruby brown with a tan ring of head. Sweet cherries on the nose, vanilla, oak, lightly soured with big malt and a touch of smoke. Taste is vanilla and smooth caramel, cherry, and real tart citrus rind. Smooth and well-carbonated.
