On tap at Cascade Brewing, pours a dark amber with a small tan head. Aroma of sour red fruits, oak barrels, wood and some dark sweet malts. Flavour of port liqueur, vanilla, burnt roasted nuts, dark fruits and oak. Very complex with low sourness - lots of complimentary flavours. Delicious. brokensail (16432) - Dublin, California, USA - SEP 16, 2012
Pours a brownish/dark amber with a khaki colored head. Nose is heavy on the oak with a slight charred wood note to it. Slight cola sweetness with a touch of dark fruit and caramel. Vinegar sourness on the aroma with some hints of chocolate. The flavor is moderately tart with a definite vinegar flavor. A touch of sherry, some dark fruits, and a moderate sweetness of chocolate, cola, and caramel. As with the aroma, lots of oak/barrel character, too. A hazed brown ale with a thick big bubbled frothy brown head. In aroma, a nice lactic malt with light floral hops, vinous touches. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with light acidity, faint cinnamon, nice and malty, with light woody notes. On tap at Portland brewery, Oct. 7 2012. KyotoLefty (10194) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JUL 28, 2012
Draught at the Barrel House. Brilliant crimson with a fine head. Cherry, root beer, chocolate, vanilla and cream nose. Flavors of vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, cinnamon and nutmeg, cherries, and port. Amazing. All kinds of stuff going on. Rich, smooth, brilliant. Best of a night of great beers.

Deep amber pour with a surprisingly persistent head. Lots of vanilla aroma adds a bit of vineousness as does the sort of toasted barrel flavour. Leather and dry tobacco that add a lot of interest as well. Awesome stuff.

Cascade night at Urban Family. This was the hit of the night amongst our friends. Darkest ruby brown, sweet tobacco leather nose, vanilla extract and alc bite. smoky malt over building sour. Leather, tart cherry, port, fruit brandy. Awesome ruddy dark beer with nice sour bite. Interesting, super tasty and well put together. JohnnyJ (5545) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 16, 2012
Slightly hazy cola colored pour, practically no head. Dark fruit, heavy oak barrel, vinegar, sweet toffee, and moderate sourness. For a Cascade beer this is lightly sour, with a sweet oaky flavor. Nice break from the super acidic sours. BillKismet (4041) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 10, 2012
Raspberry pinot noir color, albeit utterly flat. Sherry oak dominates the sense of smell. The flavor is more wonderfully nuanced, playing chords of chocolate, raisin, sherry, in undulations of harmonic flavor. maekchu (3847) - Hirakata, JAPAN - AUG 29, 2012
Draught at Cascade Brewing Barrel House. Beautiful aromas of mild coffee, oak-aged fruit, and vanilla. Clear ruby-tinted brown, flat. Deep mellow fruitiness in initial; some heat emerges in mid palate and mild dark fruit flavor begin rising; finish is fine, rich, and smooth, like a dessert wine. Medium body. A winner. The aging has mellowed the sourness and created a rich, pleasing fullness. madvike (3250) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 16, 2012
On tap at the Barrel House - Pours ruby brown with a tan ring of head. Sweet cherries on the nose, vanilla, oak, lightly soured with big malt and a touch of smoke. Taste is vanilla and smooth caramel, cherry, and real tart citrus rind. Smooth and well-carbonated.
