COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This NW style sour blond ale was barrel aged for 28 months before spending an additional two months on 300+ pounds of Black Cap raspberries: think Nouveau Boujoulais with blackberries. Vinous then sweet aromas of tart blackberries are the first to be noticed. Sharp, acidic notes of tart berries and leather on the palate lead to a sharp, dark berry presence and a finish with a prolonged dry fruit note. This limited draft-only offering is a blender favorite.

On tap at Newport Pizza and Ale House. Fresh raspberries aroma with a little sourness. Cloudy maroon under no head. Flavour begins with sweet, fresh raspberries and then becomes sour and then dries out, thankfully. Medium and then light body, moderate carbonation, mouth puckering.

Bottle from Whole Foods PM. Pours turbid ruby with pink head. Heavy raspberry, tart nose. Tastes like a tart blackberry and raspberry ale, with some oaky tannins and heavy tartness balanced by an incredible complexity. Great offering.

On tap at Hops & Pie. Purplish appearance with an off-white head. Aroma of fresh raspberries, sour, fruity and funky on the nose. Similar flavor, adding moderate sweetness with a medium body and a tart, puckering feel. Damn.

Bottle:   Deep rose in color, pinkish hued foamy head, little head and lacing.   Tart berry nose.   Also has a sweet jam aspect.   Tart and sweet on the tongue.   Reminds me of the pectin infused raspberry jam my mother used to make.   Tart, dry, yet sweet, with an unripened raspberry background.   Very simple, clean, and tasty.   A moderate example overall, but very sweet and tart.   An enjoyable brew!

2015 bottle from the vineyard, belfast. Pours deep cherry/plum, with a rose pink head and some haze. Epic concentrated fresh/tart raspberry aroma, some acid and a mild funk. Pretty lively carbonation and a bit of body. Lovely sour taste hits you, followed malt/red wine vinegar. Not getting a tonne of barrel, not that I am bothered. Grapefruit tartness, but certainly not excessive and balanced with a subtle sweetness. Long tart raspberry finish. Excellent

750 ml bottle to snifter (2016 vintage; shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a cloudy dark ruby-ish purple with pink head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells tart, oaky, and mildly funky alongside a robust raspberry presence. Tastes like it smells with a pleasantly tart and lactic medium to medium-full bodied mouthfeel that finishes semi-dry. The jammy jams.
