COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This NW style sour blond ale was barrel aged for 28 months before spending an additional two months on 300+ pounds of Black Cap raspberries: think Nouveau Boujoulais with blackberries. Vinous then sweet aromas of tart blackberries are the first to be noticed. Sharp, acidic notes of tart berries and leather on the palate lead to a sharp, dark berry presence and a finish with a prolonged dry fruit note. This limited draft-only offering is a blender favorite.

Prufrockstar (2132) - Moscow, Idaho, USA - DEC 7, 2012
Draft at Bigwood 12/6/12 [8 of 11]. From notes (which are getting spottier and sloppier as the evening goes on). Aroma: Sweet raspberry. Sexy. Appearance: Deep purple (seriously, purple). Creamy-purple head, big bubbles clinging to the glass. Taste: Light, airy, blueberry in finish. Hint of smoke? Not nearly as much sour as I was expecting (but definitely enough to remind me it’s a sour beer and not some magical wine/cocktail/beer hybrid). Palate: medium/light body, moderately live carbonation. Overall: Another solid offering from Cascade. If I lived in Portland I would drink their beers constantly.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Dark purple color. The aroma is a bit vinous, with berries. Lean body, strong acidity, some raspberry juice, asteingent in the final.
Just a massively sour berry beer, no elegance or depth.

alexmate (249) - South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - AUG 9, 2017
Red wine coloured, quite fizzy. On the nose black raspberry with the sour creamy smell dominating. Taste wise there is raspberry to begin with, as well as jam, the aftertaste is incredibly sour it had me puckering up like a cat’s arse. A bit overcarbonated, but an interesting brew.

IndianaRed (4933) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUL 24, 2017
On Tap at BitterCreek Clear deep dark redish purple. Bright pink small head and lacing. Huge berry jam aromas and flavors. The moderate tartness is mixed with some mild earthy woody notes and a litel musty funk in teh tartness. Very good.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2017 I love this beer. The color is so rich. So jammy good. I could put this on an English muffin.

Boutip (6483) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 5, 2017
Bottle: Poured a dark reddish color ale with a large pink foamy head with light retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of tart raspberry notes with light oak notes is quite pleasant. Taste is a refreshing mix of dominant raspberry notes with plenty of tart notes and light vinous/oak notes also noticeable. Very minimal amount of residual sugar is noticeable. Body is full with good carbonation. Well brewed with good level of complexity.

Bottle from LCBO. Pours ruby with quickly dissipating head and no lacing. Nose is tart raspberry. Flavour of very tart raspberry, red wine tannin, acidic. Taste big/med tart, light/medium sweet. Medium sticky body with lively carbonation and a long acidic finish. Well done!

beerplace (1923) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 8, 2017
On tap at St. Augustine during 1500 menu event with Alex. Pours a dark red with a rose head. Aroma is tons of raspeberry jam notes, amazing! Taste is sour with fermented raspberries notes and some fermented veggies, not even close to the aroma. Sour fermented raspberries aftertaste. Strange beer with excellent aroma and mediocre taste.

Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - MAY 24, 2017
Bottle share with Henry. Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a crisp semi-dark purple hue with a thin white cap softly dissipating to leave barely any lace. The aroma had the tart to sweet blackberries up front, light lemon pulp and rind sweet and bitter tones, and some easy going sour acidity levels coming around to lighten the overall nose. The flavor brought the tart to the sour to the sweet melding with the acidity and bringing in a little bit of woody sweet displacement. Acidic sour to tart blackberry sort of aftertaste flowing into the finish. The palate was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it as the acidity did start to get fairly heavy. Wasn’t too bothersome as the carbonation came to displace some of the tartness. ABV felt as projected. Overall, pretty nice blackberry sour ale that I lucked out on to get to try. But the prices of Cascade seem to keep me away from more purchases.
