This NW style sour blond ale was barrel aged for 28 months before spending an additional two months on 300+ pounds of Black Cap raspberries: think Nouveau Boujoulais with blackberries. Vinous then sweet aromas of tart blackberries are the first to be noticed. Sharp, acidic notes of tart berries and leather on the palate lead to a sharp, dark berry presence and a finish with a prolonged dry fruit note. This limited draft-only offering is a blender favorite.

Draft at Bigwood 12/6/12 [8 of 11]. From notes (which are getting spottier and sloppier as the evening goes on). Aroma: Sweet raspberry. Sexy. Appearance: Deep purple (seriously, purple). Creamy-purple head, big bubbles clinging to the glass. Taste: Light, airy, blueberry in finish. Hint of smoke? Not nearly as much sour as I was expecting (but definitely enough to remind me its a sour beer and not some magical wine/cocktail/beer hybrid). Palate: medium/light body, moderately live carbonation. Overall: Another solid offering from Cascade. If I lived in Portland I would drink their beers constantly.

Bottle share with Henry. Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a crisp semi-dark purple hue with a thin white cap softly dissipating to leave barely any lace. The aroma had the tart to sweet blackberries up front, light lemon pulp and rind sweet and bitter tones, and some easy going sour acidity levels coming around to lighten the overall nose. The flavor brought the tart to the sour to the sweet melding with the acidity and bringing in a little bit of woody sweet displacement. Acidic sour to tart blackberry sort of aftertaste flowing into the finish. The palate was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it as the acidity did start to get fairly heavy. Wasnt too bothersome as the carbonation came to displace some of the tartness. ABV felt as projected. Overall, pretty nice blackberry sour ale that I lucked out on to get to try. But the prices of Cascade seem to keep me away from more purchases.

W aromacie średnio intensywne bliżej nieokreślone czerwone owoce, nuty dzikie w tle. Wyraźna kwaśność w smaku, czerwone owoce, z posmakiem suszonych ził. Finisz nieco cierpki.

6floz draft taster appears a burgundy-brown with a pink head. Raspberry nose is mostly sour, but there is some sweetness too. This beer is all about the sour, perhaps a bit lactic, green stems, and of course raspberry fruit. Medium-full bodied and sparkling, it goes down alright.

No head, deep cardinal-red beer. Cherries, soaked and aged wood, alcohol. Sour cherries, (yes, rather than blackberry), cherrycake, quite tart. Acidthinning and -burn. Typical Cascade overly sour , but nice despite itself.

Pours deep pinkish red with basically no head. Aroma has juicy raspberries and whiffs of lemony funk and mineral sharpness. Taste is very full, mostly on raspberries and lemony tartness. Fairly pinot noir in its clean and chiselled berry elegance. Very drying and tannic in the aftertaste. Very good! And sour!
