Oaky tart apples and white grapes
Starts tart. Finishes oaky with grapes and cherries with smoke and boozy heat. It’s very hard to say its okay or I hate it. Convinced I hate it mrhoppy (1288) - Santa Clara, California, USA - JUL 28, 2012
UPDATED: AUG 8, 2013 I had this on tap while I was on vacation. A blend of between blueberry and Bourbonic plague. I prefer the beers on their own. And that’s kind of crazy coming from a beer mixologist. mcberko (17823) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 22, 2012
On tap at Cascade Brewing, pours a flat dark mahogany with no head. Aroma of dental floss, dental office - I detect blueberries but nothing mind-blowing. Tastes like dental office as well, with very stale malts - seems off. Very light blueberries detectable, no bourbon and no alcohol. Major disappointment. Stale, metallic and offensive. Live from the barrel at the barrel house. Pours a dark purple in color with no head. Clear in clarity despite the body being dark. Nose is pretty complex, it’s a mélange of blueberry, bourbon, dark fruits, vanilla, and oak. Flavor is pretty similar to the base beer, but there is a gentle blueberry character that compliments it very well. Light mouthfeel, some acidity, no heat, and a moderate finish. A nice treatment on an already good beer. The blueberry really compliments the base beer well. Really happy to have an opportunity to try it.

Taster. On tap at Cascade Brewing Barrel House. This is a fruited version of Bourbonic Plague, aged over 20 months. A one-off treat, one barrel only. Strongly wine-like, dry yet fruity aroma, Completely flat, with thin brandy-like appearance. Tart berry, oak, vanilla/ Minimal carbonation. The tartness serves to tingle the tongue instead. Very light, thin body. Rough on the tongue. The flavors diminish in a long smooth alcoholic aftertaste. Tasty, tart, and complex.
