This NW style sour ale blends wheat & blond ales that were oak aged in barrels for 6 mths, then additionally aged 4 mths on fresh blueberries. Huge herbal notes of dense blueberries in the nose give way to hints of oak & a dusty floral note. Rich earthy notes of dark fruit on the palate lead to a tart finish that dries out to a base note of blueberry skins.

Bottle share at Hampton Inn pre-DLD party. Pour is red/purple with a small pink head. Aroma and flavor are both of tart fruit, oak, and yeast. Body is quite sour and acidic.

Never had a blueberry sour before. It was pretty good, not amazing. The tartness dominates the fruit and about everything else in the beer. It still has other flavors, but its a little out of balance. Still, I dig tart, so I liked it overall.

A - pours hazy purplish berry with 1 finger head that disappears in a flash. S - the nose is tart berry/cherry, lemon juice and oak notes. Some lacto and must. M - light, almost watery thin and sour. Simple but nice. No too sweet. Vibrant carb. T - pretty simple. Lemon juice, lemon zest, tart blueberries, and bugs (lacto/Brett) and musty oak. O - a linear but nice fruit sour. 4

750 ml corked bottle, 2012 vintage (7,66% ABV). A lightly hazy dark red beer, with a large, fizzy, almost fully diminishing pinkish head. The aroma is very lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly yeasty (barnyard), with notes of blueberries, currants, wood. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic. Medium body, velvety texture, soft/lively carbonation, pretty dry and long finish with light bitterness, lightly alcoholic. The aroma is milder than expected. Blueberries notes are mixed with currants and rather soft woody hints, while the taste develops a refreshing fruitiness, mixed with a balanced acidity and a light funk. Very fun to drink, since it gots the ideal level of acidity I like enjoying in my fruit beer. Cascade seems to be a strong brewery.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2014 Bottle: 2012 Project. Hybrid translucent ruby, indigo, & orange body with a stark white head that fades to a small ring almost instantly. Aroma has big notes of sweet blueberry, sharp acidity, lots of musk, & a decent amount of funk... One of the funkiest things Ive smelled from Cascade; a big, musty wet oak & damp cellar character throughout... smells almost Belgian, even. Taste has plenty of tart blueberry with softer notes of astringent cherry & apple skins, & a mild finish of blackberry. Very "berry"-ish all around, though blueberry is the main proponent. Lots of citric acidity & finishing sweetness, again, with a big woody, musty, yeasty funk that works hard from mid-palate to finish. Love this brew.

Barrel house, 04AUG12, from notes Nice pretty blueberry juice color with some pink tinted white rimming of foam. Nose is blueberry, sour vinous grains, surprisingly grassy and back country with hints of hay and soil. Flavor pulls out a good sharp, astringent sourness with strong blueberry flavors and a good full bodied feeling with low carb and an off dry finish. A good beer. I would buy a few bottles if available. I think I prefer the Apricot over this one. Serving type: bottle 08-07-2012

Not as sour as I expected from Cascade, still very good. cloudy blueberry coloured body with pink head, and lacy. Some hospital disinfectant aroma. Smooth for a sour, more sour in the finish, and in the sediment.

Brilliant vinous blueberry aroma. Flavor is blueberry sour, but not sweet. Blueberry sweetness is fermented away. Vinous is a 7 or 8 out of 10. Slight bitter aftertaste after the sour, but overall this one is great!! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours like a Pinot with a bit of pink foam. Sour fruit comes through on the nose. Taste gives you big oak, almost some smoke? Nice and tart but not overpowering. Finish is a bit abrupt. Solid.
