Bottleshare thanks to dextercat. Nose is moderate bourbon with a light tartness. Some light choco flavor. Medium off white head. Taste is moderate bourbon and vanilla with a smooth malt richness. Light alcohol warming. Holy cow this is good!

Sampled from a bottle I brought to WTWBA 2014 in Minneapolis. Dark cola colored pour. Sour dark fruit, wood, and some bourbon sweetness. I usually don’t really dig sour porters, but I really liked this one.

Theydon_Bois (19718) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - OCT 15, 2014
Bottle shared at CBC Clerko, from an IP trade, 30/09/14. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent tan swirl and edgeing. Nose is roasty, dark fruit rinds, fruit balsams, chestnut, dates, spice. Taste comprises earthy notes, berry fruit balsams, oaky wood must, strong alcohol wash, vinegar notes. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid enough for the ABV if a little hot.

dfearnley (2200) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 10, 2014
Bottle to goblet Bourbon, caramel, spices, oak. Dark brown, thin ringed off white head. Bourbon, caramel, fudge, soy, lemon. It kind of feels like sour and sweet bourbon is fighting and bourbon is winning.

Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 1, 2014
750mL bottle, 2009 vintage. Opened with a loud pop, and it gushed a bit.. poured medium-deep brown with a tall beige head that fizzled down quickly. The aroma picked up sour oak, bourbon, and leathery notes over sour coffee and licorice notes.. sweet roast came through in a nice way.. spicy on the back of the nose with more bourbon barrel. The flavor found tart oak, lightly metallic barrel, and some tannins on the tip of the tongue, with sweet, roasty black malt and vanilla following.. tasty bourbon and lactic notes laced throughout.. finished with great balance between the porter and the barrel.. and some belly warmth. Medium-bodied with fizzy carbonation.. moderate-plus overall sourness, and it was always in balance.. really tasty stuff!

Scopey (14972) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 1, 2014
Bottle, massiev thanks to Colin. It pours deep brwon with a small beige head. The nose is soft blueberry, blackberry, lactic, wood, bramble, vanilla and balsamic vinegar. The taste is sweet-sour, juicy, boozy, acidic, blueberry, raspberry, plum. sherbet, wood, vanilla and balsamic vinegar with a sweetish finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Nice fruity character, but it is a bit sweet and heavy duty for my liking. Alright, but didn’t quite live up to what I hoped for.

Leighton (21477) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 30, 2014
Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Colin. Pours deep brown with a frothy tan head. Big acetic berry nose, moderate funk, vinegar. Big sweet flavor but also quite tangy, with lots of sugary dark fruits, plum, blueberry. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with lots of gooey fruits, some acetic burn, ripe berry sugars. A bit heavy handed overall, though still pretty tasty.

Braudog (6763) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - SEP 21, 2014
Bottle, caged and corked. One word: STRONG. Dark, unappealingly muddy and brown. Drinks with a over-the-top sugary sweetness, woody, more sugar and a hint of whiskey burn. Did I mention it’s strong? (#5748, 9/21/2014)

This poured a lighter brown with a small beige head. Aroma was of dark sour cherries, mild roast, chocolate, oak, and figs. Flavor was lots of rotten in a good way dark fruits, mild Porter and barrel, light vinegar and some citrus too. Interesting stuff.
