2009 Vintage
Tasted on 9/30/12 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle sent to me by Chris, big thanks. Pours deep, dark brown with a bit of a red velvet tint, and a thin brown head that slowly recedes to thin lace. The nose is sour with loads of chocolate malt, maple, vanilla, and caramel bourbon, and just a touch of roast. The flavor is a bit more sour up front, moving to all of the chocolate, maple, vanilla, and caramel barrel aged notes, and finishing with some roast. The body is full and tannic with average carbonation and a very long sour and bourbon finish.

On tap at Oedipus Brewery, Amsterdam on 22-Jan-2016, served in a long stemmed tulip glass. Dark brown with a large off-white head. Aroma of fruit, malt and wood. Full body and soft/medium carbonation. Taste of sour plum, cherry and chocolate. The flavour of the bourbon barrels wraps the fruit with a nice smooth taste. Surprisingly smooth for the high ABV - not as heavy as I would have expected. Pretty good.

Sampled from draft at OIBF & Borefts 2016 as well as from bottle at Oedipus. Pours a very dark warm brown with a small beige head. Bourbon, cherries, oak, molasses, caramel, roasted malts, vanilla, tart fruits, funk, chocolate, dates, raisins, raspberry. So complex, like a great porter and great sour ale in a perfect blend. Medium sweet and sour. Over medium body, low carbonation.

Sample at Borefts 2016. Poured a medium brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is rich alcohol bourbon. The flavour is moderate sweet with a rich sweet malt oily molasses alcoholic palate. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

On tap at Borefts Beer Festival, 2016. pours black, small tan head. Malty, fruity, berries, blackberries, plums, dark chocolate, pleasant sourness, vanilla, bourbon, wood, some sweetness. Medium to full bodied. Balanced and incredibly drinkable for the abv. One of the best beers of the festival for me.

Had the 2009 vintage. Not normally a huge sour fan, but this is pretty good. Pours a dark brown-black with a thin tan head. Smells of strawberry, apple and bourbon. Taste is sweet, lots of bourbon, strawberry and apple, and a tart but not sour finish. Had on tap at Raccoon Lodge.

At BBF, opaque black color, sourdough black bread with some toasty notes, flavor of soy, waffle and bread, sweet and sour intermingling. Really interesting But also a bit strange.
