Rating #1639 - #CBC2015 Beer 24 - On tap at Cascade - Pours a rich opaque black that is simply medieval. Aroma is Brett, mild roasted coffee, rich oak and vanilla. Medium high carbonation, full bodied, and high alcohol warmth. More roasty, coffee espresso notes, soaked in Bourbon, and highlighted with a blast of Brett sourness. Wondrous. #5whore

Amazing sour Porter with wood and fruit flavors. Similar to Russian River Consecration which is also amazing.

On draught. Pours black, with a minimal khaki head. Nose is balsamic vinegar and bourbon. Taste is a very complex mixture of balsamic vinegar, vanilla, and dark roast malt. A little boozy on the finish. Exceptional.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2011 750ml bottle on 6/19/11. pours a light black with a small off white head which settles into a dark black with a foamy lacing. wine barrel nose with big lactic acid and dark malts with dark fruits (cherry mostly) coming through... at GABF, the bourbon notes were much stronger than from this bottle. medium to full body with nice lacto up front over dark fruits (cherry, dates, raisins) and deep dark malts with coffee and chocolate. the level of sourness is perfect throughout - not over the top and very well attuned. tart cherry finish with oak, vanilla and a pleasing lactic sourness which turns the head a bit in the right way. this beer brings the wonderful dark roasted beer together with souring bacteria and barrels which impart layers of flavor from front to back.

sample from the pitcher @ GABF on 9/18/10. This deserves the Gold medal it received at the 2009 GABF. From the first whiff across the nose, I knew this was special. Dark brown pour / red highlights with a 1/4" off white head. Sour - lactic nose with bourbon and oak - amazing! Medium to thick body with layers of dark fruit, barrel notes, bourbon, grapes and big malts. big vinous finish... loose the barrels a bit on the finish. outstanding stuff!!! one of my favorites at GABF this year.

Bottle from da, shared by wes. Dark brown pour with chestnut brown head. Aroma is vinegar, funk, and some spice. Taste is some nice sourness with some oak and a touch of bourbon and some nutiness. Lots going on in this brew. Amazing.

Bottle served in a tulip. 2009 vintage, opened in early 2015 for a special occasion. Big pop and then it starts to gush. Poured quickly without loosing a drop. Lovely murky mid-dark brown pour with a decent sized light brown head. Monster nose: Vanilla, bourbon, dark fruit and heavy cinnamon. Also somewhat floral. Medium plus sour and mildly sweet on the palate. Medium body, decent carbonation, and a tart, light tannic finish. Complex, powerful and warming. Incredible showing especially considering its age.

On tap at Borefts Beer Festival, 2016. pours black, small tan head. Malty, fruity, berries, blackberries, plums, dark chocolate, pleasant sourness, vanilla, bourbon, wood, some sweetness. Medium to full bodied. Balanced and incredibly drinkable for the abv. One of the best beers of the festival for me.
