This live barrel of NW style sour red ale was initially aged for six months in French oak wine barrels, then additionally aged on elderberries. Sharp wine, dark raisins, red grapes and cereal notes greet you on the nose. Tart dark fruit and grapes on the palate lead to a sparkling crisp dry finish with hints of fresh elderberries and grape skins.

Deep dark maroonish brown hue under a thin light tan ring of foam. Bold blackberry/currant jammy aroma with a bit of a maple syrup backing and light woody sourness. Big blackberry and black currant juicy jamminess on the flavor that’s sweet and appropriately balanced lactic acidity with a smooth berry sweetness to temper it all back. Big fruity berry tones that’s plump but acidic and tart. Gentle plummy finish. Amazing.

2018-01-15. Dark purple body, tiny beige head fades quickly. 3++ Aroma has big fruity aroma, light wood and vinous undertones. 7++ Flavour is fairly acidic especially at the back of the throat, tart, nice berry and grape fruit in the middle is ever so briefly sweet. Lovely but intense. Average bodied palate, soft carbonation. I quite like it but it's sour enough to be tough to drink at times. 7/3-4/7-8/3/16-17 2015 vintage via trade with Brian.
