"Good name for this winter warmer that approaches barleywine type strength and body. Citrus peel and hearty malts in the nose and palate. Medium to full bodied, warming with no heat. Well done, would like more."

Really strong american strong ale, on tap at the brewery in Portland, nice stuff

Deep hued amber color with a honeyed depth, and a a rather flat, viscous looking body. The candi malt nose presents a fullness, yet lacks sweetness. Caramel, a prick of melanoidin, and caramel wheat round out the bouquet. The body is indeed viscous, and decidedly more sugary than the aroma would indicate. Sugary sweetness has tendrils of blossomy floweriness. A range of candi malt provides some depth and it pinches into cotton candy notes at some points. Overall, a solid, strong winter warmer.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark copper color with a medium white head. A big sweet nose of toffee, caramel, toast. The flavor is yeasty, toffee, fruit, some herbal tea. Pretty good.

Cascade Frostkiller winter warmer, growler fill from Malt & Vine in Redmond, Wash. Could be the standard bearer for the style. Nice malty base with a stunningly sublime cinnamon and other spice infusion. Slightly sweet, but never overbearing. Sufficiently thick, but never heavy. Ends on a slight hoppy note. Recommended! Dark amber in color, clear with a thin head. Strong malt with a good hops balance. Very tasty high alcohol finish.

Off gold colour. Thin white head. Draught. Aroma is fruity without the citrusiness of many strongs. Warming with a nice malt note . Not much finish. Something seemed lacking. But withal, not a bad ale

Tap @ Bailey’s Cellar Fest [2008 Vintage]... Poured dark, cloudy burgundy with an off-white head. Sweet and worty. Some vegetable characters like tomatoes. Little bit of oxidization. Slight floral hops, candied sugars, and a sweet malty finish.

Dark amber pour with a beige head. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Malty with perhaps a touch of vanilla. Nicely resin/citrus finish. Very pleasant bitter ending. No trace of heat.
