375ml can into glass. 4.8% From bottlo in Sorell, Tasmania. Highly carbonated yellow beer with fluffy white head. Nose is tin and cooked vegetables. Sharp zingy mouthfeel. Taste is sweet and tinny. Some malt is noticeable but the finish is pure Aussie macro (i.e. tin & vegetables). These ’Tassie-only’ macro lagers all seem to be much sweeter than their mainland equivalents. Draught at Cascade Brewery, Hobart. Poured a crystal clear golden amber with a 5mm bright white foamy head that retained OK and laced well. Carbonation moderate to high, lively and coarse. Aroma subtly of pale malts; no obvious hops. Taste of pale malt; no real bitterness. Light body. Crisp and smooth with a bland finish. Often overlooked as a non-deScript drink to outsiders, this beauty is an institution to Hobartians. In today’s life, it is rare for a drop to transcend the need for complexity, depth of character and originality. However, the Dirty Blue represents more than the simlpe package you see in the glass, can or long neck. It is a conduit enabling old friends living around the globe to catch up at Christmas time. 4.4%ABV. Pale Lager
Tapped out gold. 5°SRM.
Nose is just beery good!
Mouthfeel is sudsy. There is a nice thick beery palate of pale malts and wheat. The sourness in palate could be millet or sorghum.
Nice clean finish. I think I would like to put this on the list for the following reasons:
1. I had it on tap as a draught which apparently is available no where else except in Tassie.
2. It represents a Tassie tradition, and although based on taste, may not be the equal of more thoughtful, creative or elevated contemporary brews, is still the workaday local beer on tap for cheap and has been helping generations of working Tasmanians go home with a bit more home after a long day.

Simply amazing beer, Tasmanias best kept secret. Mainlanders should be jealous such an offering isn’t available. Beautiful golden hue, with a perfect head and perfect carbonation. Taste of tangy malty goodness, with an hefty aftertaste of grain and good Tasmanian hops. Amazing taste, leaving the northern equvelant xxx ale in the dust. Possibly the best thing is that the label has barely changed since the 50’s, because this beer doesn’t need to keep up with competition, or fads, or the latest and greatest printing and canning technology. 375ml bottle from Wrest Point Casino in a Hobart. Standard pale lager with minimum flavour and aroma. Probably a good thing you can only get this in Tasmania.
