Manhattan NW, a NW style sour ale that was, until recently, a secret. Its a blend of Blond Quad aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels on 150 pounds of sour pie cherries for five months before additionally aging on apricot noyaux for three months. Aromas of cherries, Bourbon, sweet candy and hints of spice are noticed up front. Tart cherry skins and Maraschino cherries on the palate lead to a dance of rich cherry notes that are followed by slight Bourbon sweetness. Much like the process to make fission, the steps involved here are greater than the sum of their parts. What isnt a secret? At 11.32% ABV, youre going to need a designated driver

Zlotta (2768) - Hagen, GERMANY - JUL 3, 2016
Sampled from tap at the Oedipus International Beer Festival 2016. Clear, pinkish amber with a white head. Sourish-fruity aroma of rhubarb, hibiscus, rose hip and some orange. Moderately sour, fruity taste of rhubarb, hibiscus, rose hip and some orange, followed by a short, slightly tart finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent and a little astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice!

A reddish pink copper ale with a thick creamy lacing off white head. In aroma, sweet tart maraschino cherry with light Brett, light lactic notes, light Epsom salts, very nice and smooth. In mouth, a beautiful complex mix of sweet maraschino cherry with tart cherry, light Brett notes, light horse blanket, very nice and complex, yet sweet and pleasant. On tap at Phantom Carriage.

Lactic sour, cherry, oaky Woody, dry tannic aroma. Very clean, not funky. Taste has all the same with some slight bourbon flavors in the finish, but they are subdued. All the flavors work so well together and are so balanced. Sour maybe 6 or 7 of 10, not overly sour (but still pretty sour), perfectly balanced. Get a little more Woody bourbon vanilla flavors as I drink more, but still slight bourbon. Dry fermented cherry, not sweet. So good. One of the top cascade sours. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Republic - so nice to have Cascade in Minnesota finally! Beautiful dark pink pour with slight white lacing. Jammy cherry nose. Big tart cherry bomb, but with much more depth than some of Cascades sours: cherry skin, light bourbon sweetness in the finish. Legit.

On tap at Cascade pub in Portland-USA. Reddish Amber pour clear, little lacing. Nose: cherry sour notes, funk. Mouth: sour strawberry blast, tart lime peppery finish. Still sweet in some ways. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

tmoreau (4090) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAY 10, 2016
Shared 750 ml. bottle poured to shifters, displaying a hazed, copper color, with a modest layer of soft white, bubbly head foam that reduced to a persistent, small bubbled film, and light spots of lacing. The nose was expressive cherry that was dry, extremely tart, and nearly sour. A bit less than medium bodied, with moderate carbonation that assisted, but was mainly blanketed by the tartness, the taste was cherry & sour as the aroma, with some tannic astringency, a touch of sweetness that was slightly mellowing, but no perceptible bourbon to complete the Manhattan theme. Puckering, and very tasty, nonetheless.

750ml bottle pours a bright purple with some cloudy, white head. Nose has cherry, some orange, some jam, mild berry. Flavor is tart with cherries, a very heavy orange bitters thing, berry flavored soda too, mild vinegar. Finishes a bit hot with acid.

Holy god, I had a 2013 of this and it was amazing. Not sure if only year or not, but seek this out. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
