Pours bright clear light straw gold with well retained head. Good lace. Aromas of wheat, light grain, melon, grass. Fizzy carbonation, light med body, nutty malt grain character rounding out lightly bitter, with a lively fizzy carbonation bite.

Draught at Cascade Brewery, Hobart. Poured a crystal clear golden amber with a 5mm white foamy head that retained well and laced well. Carbonation moderate, slow and coarse. Aroma of pale malt. Taste of malt and sweet fruits. Light body. Crisp and smooth with a moderately sweet short finish. Old style English Pale Ale.

Draft/bottle at the CYC Cruising Yacht Club in Sydney. Light bodied and relatively clean palate with notes of light malt, soft spice, gentle grains and soft sugar. Little to no hop profile overall.

[backlog] Dec 14 // bottle at Hard Rock Cafe, Sydney. More a lager than Pale Ale as the label states. Light bitter finish.

On tap at the brewery. Blonde, thin head. A bit cidery/industrial there’s a little bit of body, but overall it’s a fancy pale lager/ golden ale sort of thing that lets me down a bit.

Westkyoto77 (635) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JAN 28, 2016
On tap at Cascade Vistors centre. Dark golden with minimal head. A little richer than their lagers, but not much. Hops are in there but not super-prominent. it is a very old recipe, so perhaps it lacks the structure of contemporary pales, but it was still pretty decent.

Bottle. Acidic smell, that doesn’t show on the taste. A clean, Lager like ale, with some more maltiness. Nothing interesting.

drjoeng (1230) - SINGAPORE - DEC 11, 2015
Pale ale. Tapped out clear blonde Amber. 6°SRM. Nose has some clean beery aromas. Lager like in the nose with pale malt and some cider sourness. Mouthfeel is watery. Some sourness in the palate that is cidery, this vanishes after a brief time almost abruptly and the the medium finish. Finish is malt sweet and nicely drawn out medium balanced with some thin hoppy herbaceousness. Very much like a lager. Actually is a lager.

On Holiday gold blond -colored body with a white head and with a malt fruity hop aroma a spicy malt hop bitter taste with a bitter finish

I rather liked this. For a mainstream beer this has a gorgeous golden colour and white head, an aroma of gooseberry and grapefruit hoppiness that comes through well in the flavour. This is a beer I could happily reach for several times.

375ml bottle into glass. Nose is acidic, almost vegetal. Pale amber colour with two finger white head. Tiny carbonation. Nice mineral water character. Clean light-bodied beer with metallic hop finish. Those CUB cooked vegetables are lurking in the background. Not a pale ale.
