Tap at Cascade Barrel House, PDX, 22/05/13 as ’IPA Rye’ @5.4% ABV.
Clear dark amber with a thin off white head.
Nose is hops, light pine, citrus fruits, caramel malt, grapefruit.
Taste comprises hops, sugars, pinr, grapefruit, grain, bready malt.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light hop bitterness in the finish.
Solid enough IPA, not top draw but probably the best non sour I imbibed on this visit to Cascade.
Sample at the Barrel House (as Rye IPA). Clear orange color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, spice and malt. Medium body with a moderately bitter herbal hops character and notes of malt and rye in the background. The finish is hoppy with a toasty rye aftertaste. Decent overall. luttonm (6156) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 11, 2012
Cascade night at Urban Family. Hazy, rusty brown. Foamy tan head. Green tea, herby dark ruddy grain. Herbal tea, green hops, good bite. Nice crispness to the dark malts, rye bread. Good fruit hops and bittering to finish. Terrific trevor211 (1681) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 10, 2012
Dark for an IPA. Cloudy as hell. Green tea and earth on the nose, and sorry, but this one tastes like dirt. Not a fan. BuckeyeBoy (7514) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 11, 2011
On tap at Raccoon Lodge. Pours out a burnt orange/red topped with a small head. Aroma was of rye, spice, pine, citrus, and some sweetness. Taste was more of the rye, a good dose of hops, some caramel sweetness, and plenty of bread malts.

Earthy heavy aroma of dusty milled grain, dark and robust with ample rye. Dark caramel in the glass, little hazy. Dry body, leafy and toasty. Love the rye beer. Little lily pollen herbal hint. troopie (2320) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - OCT 3, 2010
Draught, Poured orange red with medium head, floral and piney aroma. Full bodied flavour but the rye restrained it, not as hoppy as most American IPAs. Nice Hop finish. Surprised this hasn’t been rated before.
