Draft at Brouwer’s Cafe. Pours an opaque brown with a smooth beige head. Aroma of roast, earth, dark fruits, dry leaves, chocolate, and cream. The flavor brings more tartness, with dark berries, lemon, toasted and roasted malts, chocolate, and earth. Tart and roasty, with a medium body and low carbonation. Sour dark saison; unusual combination and not entirely successful or unsuccessful but definitely interesting. TheRealMGD (555) - Lakewood, Washington, USA - OCT 21, 2012
Tap @ Brouwer’s. Deep black pour with a short but persitent beige head leaving moderate lace. Nose is roasty with a hint of tartness. medium-light body with reticent carbonation. Lemon, earth, smoke and not much else going on - maybe a bit of coffee and a hint of Brett. Finish is short and tart. Don’t note any berry-ness about this sour, or else it would rate higher. Won’t rate well as it’s a bit of a ’tweener, but deserves a shot from dark beer lovers who like sours. Sorta sour NW porter. JoeMcPhee (9427) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 6, 2012
Pitch black pour. Tight tan head. The aroma is lightly spicy with notes of toasted malt, coffee and a light fruity yeast. A fair bit of spice along with some graininess. Flavour is substantially more fruit dominated. Blackberry, raspberry and a little bit of dry fig flavour. Black currant as well. Interesting stuff. A bit of herbal hoppiness.

Cascade night at Urban Family. Not knowing French, this was a surprise to see. Soft black, looks like a stout. But sweet herbal nose with some chocolate. Menthol herb over heavier smoky malt. Very strange style but it kind of works. trevor211 (1681) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 10, 2012
Cola brown. Chocolate and dark roast over a faint farmhouse note. The darker, sweeter malts really dominate, though. Big chocolate hit midway through. Not really my thing.

Draught at the Barrel House. Deep black with a thick, fine head. Nose of spicy chocolate, cinnamon, grains. Somewhat tangy chocolate and spice flavor with a little smoke. Nice.

On tap at Cascade Brewing, pours a dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma of rye malt, very dry malt character. Flavour of rye malt, some light dark spices, a bit of chocolate. Finishes chocolatey and spice - very mild though. Decent but boring. dfinney23 (3356) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 15, 2012
Dark and... delicate? Maybe had already blown out my taste buds with too many sours by this point but I didn’t get much at all out of this one. Reynolds314 (3459) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 11, 2012
This may be different from the other reviews for this beer as I do not get any brett or funk at all. Pour is kinda like cola not that pretty little head. Aroma and taste are heave black pepper and chocolate with some light berry sweetness. Really enjoyed this. BillKismet (4072) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 27, 2012
Sasparilla body with decent head. Nicely tart nose, not much roast detectable. Body is fairly horsey and gets bogged down a bit too much in the Brett for my liking. Although dark, the roasting is entirely absent. Far too sour and unbalanced.
