On tap at the Barrel House. This is a dark brown ale with a rich beige head and sourish fruity aroma. There is a well-developed sour acidic flavor that goes well with the spices and treacle in the original version of Bain. The addition of dates adds another layer of complexity. Overall, an usual porter well worth drinking. bvc (1244) - Washington, USA - MAR 31, 2011
Live barrel at Cascade. Pours a deep dark coffee brown with plenty of dirty off white head that lasts. Light lacto, figgy, dates, fudge, cherries, hint of spice...cinnamon. Light body/mouthfeel, mellow carbonation. Tart lacto and cherries up front, roasty malt...light, bourbon, oak, vanilla, refreshing tart fruit in the mid palate with some spice and cocoa in that late finish. Very light, tart, fruity and clean.
