37.5 cL bottle, doesn’t seem be easily placed under any of the two other Cascade stouts despite the same ABV. Pours dark brown with a lacing tan head. Malt and chocolate aroma. Flavour is mild roasted. Medium sweet and roasted malt with a nicd chocolate note lingering into the finish. Light roasted and bitter finish. Bottled (at AIBA 2005). Very black. Tarry licorice aroma. Sweet and rich on coffee. The coffee just lingers on, passing the somewhat syrupy mouthfeel into the finish where it overpowers the bitterness. One dimensional, and perhaps with simplistic malt character, but after 28 hours on airplanes and umpteen beers at the festival I sure do appreciate the coffee in this beer :-)
(Bottle 37,5 cl) Clear dark brown with a dense, creamy, beige head. Burned licorice-like nose. Medium body, a little burned malt, licorice and coffee. Some malty bitterness. Nice one. 160408

Cascade Export Stout 5.8
Dark brown with only slight red-purple highlights under light. aroma is chocolatey, fudgey, bit if molasses but not as much fruitiness. Chocolatey but arguably sweeter, earthier, has a fuller body. 4 7 7 4 15
2010 rate: @ Southern Barbarian, Shanghai. Very dark brown colour with a thin head. Chewy, rich, fruity, treacly aroma. Chocolatey palate. Fairly full body. Soft and smooth. Moderate sweetness. Complex fudgey brew. Gets a little bit thin at the end. Pretty good beer that blurs the stout/foreign stout line.
Black with lace in glass. Appropriate carbonation and medium mouthfeel. More bitterness than roast, some coffee, caramel malt and syruppy sweetness chunk in the middle. Bittersweet finish. Drinkable reasonable stout. Thanks DouglasD for bringing back.
