Very nice although a little watery for a barley wine. Nice aroma and color. Had it at the brewpub. jbruner (5287) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - AUG 14, 2013
Pours a translucent brownish gold on tap with fluffy tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is hoppy pine up front that falls to sweet maltiness. Taste is maltier than the nose, nice hop notes still though, a bit of boozy sweetness, but no real burn. This is an awesome barleywine. changeup45 (1731) - Lake Mary, Florida, USA - JUL 28, 2013
Flight pour at the brewpub. Reddish-amber and served with a good thick off-white head. Rich and malty stuff with sharp resinous hops and some butterscotch notes. There’s a slight tropical/citrus zest deep down that adds an interesting element. Full-bodied, slick, sweet, and a bit sticky. Dry finish with quite a bit of bitterness kicking in. The 11% doesn’t hide; it’s good but glad I only had 4 ounces this time. sloshgator (770) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JUL 27, 2013
Cask & Larder American Barleywine is a decent specimen of the style with a smooth finish. Nice light malty aromas with a bit of hop character. Cloudy orange pour with a decent head. Taste is malty with some hop character with a smoothness that belies its high alcohol content. Careful, this one will sneak up on you! The experience is similar to a double IPA but not as much hop character. Finish is pretty clean with some herb notes. American Barleywine is a pleasant quaff but pretty much cuts down on any follow-up (unless you have ride home.:) SHIG (4964) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - JUL 3, 2013
Draft: Poured a burnt orange copper with little bubble head. Aroma is strong alcohol and hops. Taste is boozy with nice hoppiness and sweet sticky malts.
