COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first Cassel Brewery recipe to come out of the kettles. I have modified it slightly afterward but the same basic recipe remains. This brew was designed to please almost everyone, even those who don’t normally like beer, love this one. It has a nice lovely light sweet finish and velvet texture.

[growler from brewery] Nutty aroma with plenty of brown sugar, some cream, and detectable hops. Clear dark amber under a tan foam that drops to a patch and lace. The flavour is sweet and nutty malt up front, followed by a bit of bread crust and then brown sugar (honey?) together with a subtle bitterness. Medium to full body, medium carbonation, nutty finish. Balance is a bit too much on the sweet side--a drier finish would be better.

500 ml bottle. Clear amber colour, thin white head. Sweetish malty aroma with notes of honey and nuts. The flavour is toasted malty, with sweet caramel, honey, nuts, a note of cocoa and a moderately bitter finish. OK.

Pleasantly surprised by this craft beer. A micro-brewery of big-boys caliber. Well done.

500 ml bottle. Pours a veiled brown-orangeish amber with a short lived white head. Aroma is caramel, honey, hazelnut. Flavor is chocolate, caramel...somewhat watery. Finish is honey, some sugary notes. Light to medium body, weak to average carbonation.

Pours dark amber with a small off white head. Sweet malt and honey aroma. Carmel, honey and cereal flavour with a creamy body. Good beer but a bit too sweet for me.

bottle. Poured deep amber-brown with a thin but lasting creamy tan head. Sweet malt aroma. Medium-light body, average carbonation, sticky finish. Caramel malt flavour, honey sweet with a woody quality, slightly musty and spicy.

bottle. dark amber-brown colour, thin head. Sweet malts, honey, caramel. Creamy mouthfeel. The honey sweetness overwhelms this one.

Clear, brown amber body, no carbonation, no head. Clover meadows with wet hay and ripe summer fruits to the nose. Flavor is leaning on sweet but not overly so. Quality hops offer good overall balance. A little flat but can’t say that it takes away from enjoyability.

Raistlin (410) - London, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 9, 2015
Pours hazy copper colour with minimal white head. It is way too sweet. Has taste of caramel and honey. Honey sweetness just overwhelms everything else. Way too thin of a texture. No body to it at all. Feels very watery.

I smell chocolate and spices. Semi-sweet malts and honey feature prominently in the flavour, and it’s far less cloying than I expected. Far from my favourite style but not bad at all.
