Not overly impressive. I just didn't find much there. Some yeast and hay flavors but not a whole lot there overall. Not bad but I was expecting more from my first biere de garde. gputty (456) - Virgina Beach, Virginia, USA - JAN 16, 2006
From a 750mL bottle, dated 2001. Pours a dull gold color with a quickly dissipating head. Nose of pears, honey and an earthiness. Syrupy mouth-feel, with more pears and some spices. Finish is crisp and refreshing. A fine brew! grat (432) - ST. Louis, Missouri, USA - AUG 1, 2004
Not very good. Pours a lovely golden color. Nose is really more like a lager than ale. Flavours reflect this (Heineken) but retain a slight barnyardness. Leather, and hay with lager yeast and tetternangs

Bottle. Pours a very slightly hazy yellow, medium white head, some lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, touch of spice. Flavor is also sweet malt, spice and a touch of fruit, mainly apple and some peach notes. Nice mouthfeel, smooth and enjoyable. ElGaucho56 (394) - USA - OCT 21, 2007
Sampled @ GDBTF. A pleasant surprise at the Decatur Beer festival, one of the few beers I hadn’t seen or tried before. Forgot to write down notes though, so going off memory. Pours well carbonated a deep yellow gold; saison type farmhouse hops in the nose; balanced by a rich caramel malt body that ended with a peppery yeasty spiciness. Haven’t had a chance to try many biere de gardes, but find them quite enjoyable.

Hazy golden body with a watery white head. Soft "barnyard" aromas with a bit of of lemon zest. Sweet, grassy, and dank. Finish has a rather dusty feel to it. footy (348) - scottsdale, Arizona, USA - SEP 10, 2007
9/9/05.750ml San Rogue. Hazy gold with large white head. Floral hop aroma light fruity with some spice and malts. DeadGuyFrank (347) - http://westchesterbeer.com, USA - AUG 23, 2008
My wife is not much of a beer drinker, but when I poured this into my saison glass she said, "now that is a good looking beer." Perfect white fluffy head that lasts, so much subtle, repeat subtle yeasty, hoppy, carbonated taste in each sip - one of my favorites. muenster (345) - Sevierville, Tennessee, USA - JAN 5, 2007
Hmm, pours yellow/blonde with lots and lots of floaties and a thin white head. Berries and acidity dominate the aroma. The flavor was far to corn syrupy, lots of sweet malt, little acidity and a little fruit. Man, after the Oro De Calabaza, I was expecting something far better than this from a biere de garde.
