Poured a cloudy golden color with a small creamy, fizzly head with no lacing. It had a sweet apple, light fruit aroma, there was also some carbonation in the aroma. Had a somewhat old taste, slight carbonation, mild apple, spice dry finish. jmuhops (669) - Winchester, Virginia, USA - JAN 23, 2008
Pours hazy gold with a large white head. Lots of tiny floaties. Very herbal aroma with a light peach background. Sugary sweetness comes out with some swirling. Delicate flavor; there’s a lot going on, but it takes several sips to realize that. Herbal hoppiness rounds out the peach, banana, earth, and light clove taste. Earthiness becomes more apparent as the beer warms and blends very well with the hops. Chewy mouthfeel, even through all the carbonation. This one doesn’t tell you it’s a great beer; it lets you figure it out on your own. ryan (3186) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - APR 9, 2010
Hay/dough and herbal nose; touch floral. Well attenuated, soft luxurious body, cotton candy and honey, bready malts, light herbal hops, some grass. Finishes rather dry with a very floral bitterness. Gentle, but moderate carbonation. Just my thing. Excellent, excellent stuff. Lyncham (251) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 23, 2010
Large format bottle served in tulip glass. Grassy aromas with slight apples and peppery spice. Clear deep yellow color. Med carbonation with small bubbles. Balance fruit sweetness of apples with clove and Bready malts with grassy dry bitterness. Very refreshing. drdisque (877) - Illinois, USA - DEC 10, 2011

tulip / 06.01.05 L4006 13:05 (i don’t know what it truly means, but it looked important) / a nice loud pop is heard when i release the cork, then a wisp of fog quickly rises and disappears. i do smell it, though: primarily a spiced aroma; but with hay, a little bit of mustiness. the pour is very nice. a huge white head nears full diminishment, but it takes awhile... leaving sparkly lace, soapy froth, and it’s quite loud, which is another thing about this beer, the body is quite active yet the palate is not obnoxious. it’s just live enough. it’s actually quite cremey. this is a modest beer with just enough sweetness and spice--a little bit of caramel, lemon, with a dimension of barn like in a saison. very enjoyable! and my FIRST biere de garde! Pours a yellowish gold, with a large creamy white head. Not quite opaque but still very cloudy. Head persists quite a while leaving slight traces of foam back on the sides of the glass. Original aroma was of a floral/spicy hop with just the tinge of skunk. As it warms, sugar sweetness seeps in and as it warms more, diacetyl mixes in for a nice but faint butterscotch aroma. Light caramel sweetness on the tongue, with some balancing bitterness, though not sure if it is from hops or carbonation. A bit of banana like esters. Finishes with a lingering malt. The butter in the nose is not present in the taste. Mouth feel is soft with a medium body. Carbonation is not prickly. I will be looking for this one in the future.
