JanLaursen (3227) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 20, 2012
Bottle, 33 cl. Clear and golden copper with a huge off white head, good retention and nice lacings. Light sourish malty aroma. Flavor is sweet and light bready with a light floral hop-note. Finish is malty with a slightly grassy bitter finish. Nothing wrong, just plain, caramel malty and unexciting.

NikkTwist (3223) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 3, 2013
Draft at Farmers Cabinet. Clear dark amber pour with a slight off-white foam. Rich sugar plums. Vinous. Sweet but nicely balanced.

bursprak (3205) - Aarhus, DENMARK - AUG 31, 2014
Bottle. Sample at Voldby Ølmesse 2014. Dark amber pour. Yeast, grains, citrus and some vegetables. Watery and a bit weak.

bluevegie (3073) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 8, 2006
Medium size fluffy white head on top of a clear chestnut brown body. Aroma was pleasant, malt, spice and pepper. Taste is ok, not that complex, soft mouthfeel, caramel and burnt sugar.

ALLOVATE (3015) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAR 27, 2006
Sadly lacking in all aspects I was glad to finish this one off quickly and move onto something more sessionable. Expected a lot more from this famous Bière de garde producer. Poured into it’s own bulbous tulip glass, cool but not cold. Has an attractive, sparkling burnished copper body with a thin dollop of cream floating on top that left minimal lace. Overly soft and difficult to pick up, the aroma seemed a mix of caramel, figs and driftwood, and a late hint of salted meats. Not inviting so I was glad it wasn’t too pronounced. Thin and watery in the mouth, soft in carbonation and slightly oily in the back end. Oxidised, Vienna-style malts (like rust!), rye bread and some fruit concentrates that add a light sweetness upfront. Finish is short, subtle linger of eggs and rust. Not very agreeable to drink; thin and lacking definition. Disappointing!!! (25cL, 01/09/06, Int’l Beer Shop, W. Leederville)

Calisky (2941) - ALSACE, FRANCE - JUL 18, 2014
Couleur ambrée, mousse beige. Couleur malt caramel, note glucose. Gout malté, caramel leger et levure. Assez pour une bière de garde.

joe19612 (2929) - camberley, Surrey, ENGLAND - JAN 7, 2017
Bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a thin but firm white head, aroma is light malt with hints grass, the taste is medium bitterness with soft fruit and a dry bitter finish.

Bottle from Salling Aalborg shared with Simonsen
Amber, quite clear, white frothy head. Smell of dust, light malts, some fruity yeast and caramel. Moderate sweet, malty, some caramel, some yeast notes, moderate bitter finish. A bit better than the blonde version

malrubius (2896) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - JUN 4, 2015
Bottle from Joes. Amber with lasting ring and lace. Caramel toffee aroma with mild herbs. Sweet caramel mildly toasted some ripe peach and nuts with herbal finish and a hint of banana through the nose. Medium lively body. Not one of my favorite styles, but better than expected.

MarkoNm (2740) - Novo mesto, SLOVENIA - AUG 10, 2014
Pours a clear amber color, topped with hefty beige head, decent retention. Malty aroma, some alcohol and slight yeast. Bittery but not to much, slight caramel. Very filling. I guess it’s ok, although I’m not the biggest fan.
