This brown belgian ale is syrupy and all malts like most of its counterparts in the north of France. It has a bit of a redeeming chocolate flavor, but no hops worth mentioning. The nose is all musky malts and alcohol. DuffMan (10664) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 1, 2006
Dark walnut brown, small tan head. Weak aromas of chocolate, maybe a nutty character too. Not nearly as impressive as the ambree, but not bad. bluevegie (3938) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 1, 2006
Deep dark ruby body with a compact, lasting, light tan head. Full malt aroma with notes of broth and caramel. Medium body, smooth taste that is a little nutty, pepper, a little liquorice but not too much more. Tobias10 (99) - London, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2005
Great bottle, looks like its going to be something special. It isnt. Cork came out with a bit of a bang. Dark beer with less body than a Mild. Habanero (4844) - Tranbjerg, DENMARK, DENMARK - DEC 3, 2005

Bottled (75cl) Dark brown with beige head. Massive pressure on the bottle. Cellar-like aromas. Light sweetness in flavor, with a quite gassy mouthfeel. Small bitterness in the finish. (051104) hotstuff (5257) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - OCT 29, 2005
Corked and caged bottle. Large fizzy tan head that was mostly lasting, fine-small sized bubbles, fair lacing, transparent, carbonated, and a reddish brown hue. Aroma was malty, caramel, and sweet and ditto for the flavor. Smooth mouthfeel. Medium body. Nicely done and worthy of a try IMMHO. harrisoni (19310) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - OCT 18, 2005
75cl bottle from Auchan. Dark ruby colour, tight lasting beige head. Liquorice, choc/coffee aromas. Nice in mouth. Lots of tasty malt. Some hop on end. Well crafted beer. Choc/coffee/liquorice on end thedm (6319) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - SEP 16, 2005
This corked and caged bottled brew with a cork marked 2-27 poured a foamy large sized light brown colored head of finely sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a very dark caramel brown colored semi-transparent softly carbonated body and a good lacing. The aroma was nice with sweet caramel malty notes. The mouth feel was initially mildly tingly with a sweet smooth finish. The flavor contained notes of sweet caramel malts. (Bottle 75 cl) Very dark brown, almost close to black. Full body with notes of roasted malt and chocolate. Sweetish with a discreet, bitter palate.
