Bottle. Dark red / brown color with a large good lacing light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty and yeasty, suger / syrup. Flavor is heavy sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. yespr (47056) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - OCT 7, 2007
65 cL bottle. Pours black with a huge brown head. Sweet molasses aroma, a slight bit of spice too. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Flavour is breadish at first, it then goes sweet and reveals a sweet molasses flavour. Dark malty and dry notes of raisins and plum. Underneath is soft spice flavour and a very minor yeasty note, but both appear more mellow than in a classic belgian brune. Quite nice. A red-brown beer with a fine beige head. The aroma is very sweet and very spicy with cinnamon being most dominant, but the aroma also contains notes of berries and is slightly acidic. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of berries, but also spices again with cinnamon standing out and again with hints of acidity. Even though it holds 7.5% ABV the mouthfeel is thin. joergen (28971) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - OCT 30, 2005

(Bottle 65 cl) Pours a beautiful, clear mahogany with a warm, reddish glow and a small, creamy, beige head. Quite full-bodied with rich, hard roasted and sweet malts. Accents of burned caramel and licorice and a wee hint of metal. No real bitterness. Lovely and very christmasy. 261206 saxo (19302) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - DEC 16, 2005
Almost black colored, slight red tones. Little beige head. Aroma has some caramel and roasted chocolate, strong alcohol comes up too. Medium bodied, expected this to be fuller. Lots of coffee. harrisoni (19182) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - DEC 2, 2005
65cl bottle. Very dark ruby/dark brown with thin beige head. Not the world’s best aroma. Some liquorice, some good dark malts. Finish has a bit of tang of sorts. Ultimately it looks a hell of a lot better than it tastes. Which is a problem TBone (18068) - Pori, FINLAND - NOV 7, 2004

Dark brown, almost no head. Aroma of banana. Mouthfeel is thin. Easy to drink: sweetish, taste of cream, water melon and banana. Hides alcohol completely. (7/3/7/3/13 3.3)
Re-rate, bottled (BB 04/2006)
Dark ruby, good creamy brown head. Aroma has malts and roast. Sweetish with toffee, roasted malts, licorice and chocolate. Alcohol comes only slightly in the aftertaste. Warming. This feels more like Vienna (with high ABV). (6/4/6/3/13 3.2)
650ml bottle (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Winter Ales 2004)
Malty focus in aroma and taste. Mellow, slightly winey, warming. Some spice - anis?
