33cl bottle shared. Thin white head. Pale golden pour. An ok lager. No aroma

GoufCustom (2003) - HONG KONG - FEB 18, 2014

250 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Clear light golden honey yellow colour; One quarter finger head and soapy white foam which fades in 10 seconds; Small sticky lacing with fizzy carbonation; Quite pungent aroma of full malt, with grains, bread, lemon and grass; Mid to light sweet taste of malt, with pretty strong lemon and lime, faint syrup, bread, and light grass; Mid to light body, thin but slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is slightly thinned but with full maltyness, a hint of syrupy feel but pretty much sugar-less in palate. Bready, no off taste, very strong citrusy hop presence. Pretty good... Hoppiness is strong lemon, lime and grass in nose and taste. Bitterness is very low in background, only malty finish; Slightly dry after taste, very easy to mouth.

Comments: How often do you equate French lagers with decent quality? Well this one has both good and bad, but it can be counted as one of those: good colour, poor head, full malty in thin body yet pretty fulfilling, very low sweetness, no off-tastes, very expressive lemony hops but with minimal bitterness. One for easy drinking, and I am okay with that.

Bottle. Pale yellow, clear. Pretty typical ’warm country’ lager aroma - there’s the lager yeasty character, a bit of corn maltyness, not really any hops, but a sort of lightness, freshness, that works well on hot sweaty sunny days somewhere in southern europe or -america. Light body, with a slightly oily finish. Weak flavours, mainly the slight cornish malts. I like the organic aspect of the product, makes me feel like they’ve put some effort into it. But overall it’s pretty weak, bland.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 30/07/14, courtesy of FatPhil, 20131018) The beer poured pale golden and clear. Its head was medium sized, white and sparse. Aroma had sweetness, starch and metallicness. Palate was light bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, starch, hint of grass and low bitterness. Aftertaste was short and had low bitterness. A flawless beer with neither aroma nor taste.

Shared a 75cl bottle from Such an (Luxembourg). Golden colour with white lace. Hoppy aroma. Medium carbonation and light body. Flavour is light... Too light... Bitter and sweet.

Marduk (7694) - Reval, ESTONIA - JUL 25, 2013
330ml bottle. Clear amber color. Small head, stays. Sweet, malty, watery, toffee in aroma. Weak aroma. Taste is pretty much the same. It’s just so watery.
