COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Castle Milk Stout has a thick texture, strong flavour and a full, satisfying and complex taste, with a hint of caramel. Dark roasted malt provides its distinctive dark colouring, and the creamy, smooth head comes from a special yeast.

Bottle. Pours opaque deep black brown with big foamy tight creamy tan head. Aromas of sweet malts, rum, booze, pitted fruits, chocolate, lactose milk, floral, herbal, lightly grassy hop aromas, light caramel and butterscotch. Medium body, milky sweet light creamy flavour and mouthfeel, a touch of roast and hop bitterness. Finish is lightly sweet, refreshing, milky - a touch burnt and a touch vegetal. Not bad for a macro.

Thanks to Pete for this easy drinking (too easy!) several could disappear quickly. Pours black with a solid creamy light brown head, aromas of roasted malts coffee and chocolate, light spice and leaving bitter, I really enjoyed this.

Bottled (750ml) Black colour with brownish-tan head. Medium sweetness, dark chocolate and coffee. A reliable standby from SAB. Very nice on tap as well, with a creamier texture.

Bottle, Nassau Bahamas. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small fizzy brown head that faded to a thin ring. The nose is slightly sweet with lactose and chocolate, some roastiness, a little burnt note. The flavor is pretty decent, not overly sweet, but plenty of lactose. Nicely roasty and chocolaty without any burnt or acrid notes you sometimes get with stouts. Medium bodied with just the slightest bit of cling and soft gentle carbonation. Pretty good stuff, far exceeded my expectations for a South African beer.

Bottle from Nassau on a cruise. Sweet milky aroma. Light coffee. Faint chocolate. Taste is a little roasty followed by a light milk sweetness. Like coffee and cream. A tad thin, quick finish. Not bad.

Pours an extremely dark brown, almost black, with a good amount of tan head. Aromas of coffee and roasted malt (not particularity pronounced but definitely there), with coffee becoming more pronounced as the beer warms in hand. Not very creamy, but not too watery either. The lactose in the beer adds a pleasant sweet after taste, with hops not being very pronounced in this beer. A good amount of carbonation. This has become my go-to "commercial" beer in South Africa and is probably the best beer brewed by SABMiller.
