A ‘supping’ bitter with a distinctive hop character derived from Goldings. Slightly darker than the Nottingham Gold beer which it has replaced. Currently brewed for us by Tower Brewery in Burton on Trent whilst we plan the expansion of the Castle Rock site in the centre of Nottingham.

Copper caramel, clear, dense thin head

Palate - Light body, tad watery, light bitter. Finish is a little dry, some earthy bitterness
Overall - Can’t expect much at only 3.4%

Handpull cask at Mr Grundy’s Tavern, Derby. Amber, clear with very little head but impressive lacing. Stinks of rotten egg. Tastes of rotten egg. Watery palate. Ok, I’ve had a few ’Burton-y’ beers that are well-balanced and make good use of the water’s natural properties. This just stinks of sulphur.

Towey1989 (3162) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2015
Cask at The Congress, Longton. A clear amber colour with a thin white head. Aroma of sweet fruity malt, rubber, some orange and spicy hops. Taste of sweet fruity malt, some orange, a subtle treacle quality and spicy, floral hops. Light bodied and a smooth but also watery texture. A short fruity malt finish. Extremely drinkable bitter has its 3.5, smooth and watery. Overall though, balanced, fruity but boring. Ok.

foxo82 (923) - Bromsgrove (via Leicester), Worcestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 31, 2015
Cask at Queen of Bradgate, Leicester. Auburn with good lacing but underwhelming dry bitter finish that lacks flavour. Below average especially when compared with the likes of Harvest Pale.

niquillis (2752) - Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 13, 2014
On cask at Congress, Longton. Pours mid brown with off white head. Very thin traditional bitter, not a lot going on here. Cheap and cheerful.

Cask growler purchased in Nottingham. An uncomplicated English bitter with light caramel malts and floral hops on the nose and tongue. Moderate bitter hop finish with slight astringency. Flat carbonation with lightish body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Philym (1003) - St Neots, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - JUN 21, 2014
Appearance: Clear copper/amber with thin beige head. Aroma: Fruity, caramel/toffee notes, burnt malt hints. Smelt like hops when opening a bag and rubbing between the fingers to get the resin out. Taste: Medium bitter, low/medium sourness and low sweetness. Palate: Medium smooth texture, light/medium body, average carbonation, lingering, quite dry, fruity, malty, caramel finish. Comments: Very good and refreshing. Enjoyed in the beer garden of the Bridge, St Neots.

Beese (3065) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 4, 2014
Cask at The White Lion, St Albans on 16 Feb 2013. Poured a clear amber, with a thin, broken white head. Aroma of malt, caramel and floral hop. Brown sugar in the flavour, with some chewy malt and grassy hop. Bitterness builds on the finish, with pine, slight copper and flat malt.

ladnewton (2016) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 31, 2014
Cask at the Vat & Fiddle, Nottingham on 28th May 2014. Copper with off-white lacing film. Leafy herby aromas. Biscuit malts and delicate tangy hoppiness in liquid, with touch of banana. Fruity finish with tart berries and a little nuttiness - hazelnut. Zingy mouthfeel and light body.

davidtjm (1074) - Berlin, GERMANY - MAR 27, 2014
Dark amber pour with a nice head, light hops aroma. Taste is watery, light malt notes and a bitter finish
