Surprisingly inoffensive, and perhaps the most drinkable lager on tap at Petersham RSL. But perhaps that says more about Petersham RSL than it does about XXXX.

A gold Lager that I drank for a while, good headache stuff, gassy, aroma was hoppy but metallic like the flavour,it had a bitterness that was okay but the finish was always a bit sour and metallic. It did have a fair malt flavour just like xxxx Bitter a far better drink one I grew up with.pleased I give this away.

This lager poured a light yellow colour with a bright white bubbly head. To the nose there was scents of corn, malt and a little egg??? First sip was watery and very thin. Not bad tasting but nothing to it. The finish was malty with a little corn flavour then...nothing. Just a very, very light beer flavour.

Crystal clear yellow gold pour (not a good thing). Hoppy scent, some grains and sweetness. Im still confused by a 4.5% beer with XXXX in the name, seems a bit ironic especially to someone who likes strong beer. Watery taste, grassy with too much hops coming out. Not that bad a beer for watery macro swill.

Can. Yellow colour. White head. Yet another Lawnmower lager. Bland beer but not bad on a hot day.

Bottled, whilst in Palm Cove, North Qld.
I think this beer is cleverly placed in the market. Lighter in alcohol then most beers but not so light people dont want to drink it. In fact it was well recieved. For the professional drunks of mother England however this is not something new or different but something dear to their hearts....a session bitter, albeit with added fizz. Decent enough to drink.

Could see where this beer might be refreshing on a 100 plus day but mostly just gross. has almost no redeeming value other than an alcohol delivery system.

(bottle) pale gold, moderate white head, no lace. Faint malt aroma. Thin. Light lager/malt flavor, hint of a metallic aftertaste.

Id drink this over the XXXX Bitter any day of the week, and for a mainstream low ABV beer its not a total disaster. Darkish golden hue; very safe looking. Non-descript stale malts and adjunct nose. Er...not much else. Similar to taste although as expected not much malt or flavour weight. Quite crip and dry, probably a good approach given its mid-strength intentions, and an ok mild sliver of bitterness to finish.
