Cask handpull, Ye Olde Dolphin, Derby. Not red but mahogany with ruby edges and a thin cream head. Coffee and leaves aroma; dusty cocoa and mocha on the palate; dry roasted, digestive sweetness rounding things out. Easily the pick of the Cathedral beers I’ve had- some of which, there’s no point denying it, have been absolute stinkers. Clean and gentle. Decent. Cask in the market porter. Alround rating: Wow this was crazy stuff, it had a massive ashtray character, it was like losign a dare and having to drink a beer with a smoke in it. Undrinkable.

Cask, gravity at The Old Oak, Rurad bar, Horsely Woodhouse, Derbyshire 23-01-09 Pours a mid brown colour but tricky to be absolutely certain in the poor light of this popular bar. The head was small and off white. This is a little fruity, quite malty and pleasant enough but up against the lovely Salopian Resistance beer that I’ve also been drinking tonight it was found wanting somewhat, still not bad.
