Very thick head. Light reddish brown. Very easy drinking. Fruity. Barnyard. Very fruity.

Being a lover of local beer, I saw a demonstration at Schnucks earlier in the week and struck up a conversation with the young man who was providing samples. He was very knowledgable and let me sample all the varieties that he had available. My favorite brew was Belgian-Style Abbey Ale. I grabbed some to take home and drink while I was grilling out. I mean who doesn’t want to drink a beer that has a tagline of “turning sinners into saints” - I love it!

12 oz. bottle. Pours dark copper with very little tan head. Aroma was plum, fruits and yeast. Taste was sweet and fruits.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a stemmed snifter glass on Christmas Eve, thanks Gary! Amber colour, spritzy off-white foam, lasting with a little lace. Grainy, caramelly, faint noble-ish hoppy bittering balance. Obvious Belgian yeast traits: ripe fruity esters, black pepper, clove. Medium body, strong carbonation, slight acidity, some residual sticky sweetness, I prefer a drier finish. Overall: a fairly true-to-style Belgian ale, tasty enough but unmemorable.

Amber in color, light head. Unusually sour for a Belgian. The flavor isn't bad, but it fails to do what it set out to do; it's just not really a true Belgian. Sad.

Bottle; poured an auburn color with a frothy white head. Aroma of must, soap, yeast, and plum. A pretty mellow flavor; alcohol plums and a weird finish.

Pours a clear mahogany color with a finger of fluffy off white head and good lacing. Aroma is a bit sweet with musty fruit and bready grain. Taste is husky grain and slight burnt molasses with some fruit and banana. Hint of clove and astringency. Mouthfeel is watery and fizzy with medium/high carbonation. Malt forward with very little Belgian character. Not a particularly good example of the style.
