Brewed in the Russian Imperial Stout style, this offering boasts plenty of malt character and an aggressive amount of hops. A rich, flavorful ale with a finish you won’t believe.

Pours a deep brown black color with a tall, very creamy, tan head that has a lot of staying power. Aroma has a very full, fresh malt nose with lot of toasted malt presence, light chocolate and some burnt acidity at the tail end. Flavor matches the nose perfectly. A complex malty flavor overall with strong toasted malt notes early, a light chocolate flavor in the middle, coffee presence shows up later in the flavor and finishes with a light earthy hops presence. Body is modest in density with a very creamy feeling. Overall a very enjoyable beer. I love that this RIS stuck with the more toasted malt aspect as opposed to the more common dark fruity aspect the RIS style can incorporate. Can’t wait to get my hands on another one of these bottles.

Tap at 2865 Brewhouse. Black with a creamy ring of head and medium lacing. Roasted malts, more malt, a little marshmallow and faint milk chocolate aromas. Taste is lightly sweet with a slight chalk aftertaste. Medium body with a creamy feel.

Bottle. Dark black body off white head some lacing good retention. Aroma of roasted malts. Taste is coffee maybe a hint of dark chocolate. Not the most complex imperial stout, but a decent one. Not bad.

BOSSbrewer (2705) - Arkansas, USA - APR 15, 2015
Bottle shared at porch nite with Raith, Brisben, Breck. Pours dark brown with one finger of tan head. Aroma is roast barley and pine. Flavor is fairly bitter and roasty. No caramel, dark fruits. Just roast and fairly bitter. Too much so. Drinkable. Lighter bodied as well. Finishes dry and bitter.

csaso (2361) - Missouri, USA - JAN 7, 2015
Bottle - very big tan foamy head, pitch black color, very toasty malt aroma and flavor, some kind of weird off hop flavor (maybe an old bottle?), takes away from the overall beer though ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

boozedude (2229) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - DEC 18, 2014
Bpomber shared with josh at club w, black pour with thick brown head, this aroma is crazy weird, but good, taste is cinnamon, wood light smoke, this shits all oover the place

robbienate (113) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 12, 2014
Pours black with almost 3 fingers of dark tan head. Aroma is strongly milk chocolate with a little bit of caramel and some sprucy hops. Taste is medium bitter. Lots of dark coffee with chocolate and spruce. Medium bodied with a somewhat oily yet thick texture. Lively carbonation and a very long, very bitter finish. Overall, I’m really digging this beer. Probably the best beer offered from Cathedral Square.

dfearnley (2379) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 11, 2014
Bottle to goblet Loads of milk, rancid milk, diacetal. I can’t imagine that this is supposed to be like this. Black...tan head. Disgusting curdled milk, some coffee/chocolate.
