Bon Secours Ambrée gives an elegant look in its copper color with a subtle blend of pale malts and caramel. Its foam is creamy and persistent. On the palate, it is dry and develops a long and fine bitterness. Bottle conditioned. Ingredients: water, barley malt, candi sugar, hops, yeast.

330ml flip-top bottle bought at Craftissimo in Tsim Sha Tsui East.

Cloudy hazy straw dull plum brown colour with a thick crust of of black yeast sediments; One-quarter finger head and residual off-white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Good sticky lacing and near zero carbonation; Very fragrant aroma of malt, with strong strong Cointreau, brandy, caramel, toffee, sugar, strong Bel yeast, lime and light grass; Strong sweet taste of moderate malt, with light Cointreau, shades of brandy, light caramel, light plum, shades of red fruits, alcohol, molasses, sugar, strong Bel yeast, light lime, light bitter hops and grass; Close to medium body. watery palate; Mouth feel is like a watered-down Bush Ambree: the amber malt taste is strong but it’ s very watery to the tongue. The strong Ambree’s signature brandy and orange liquor profile, as well as sweetness and booze, are all there but kinda de-amplified by the watery feel. Why?... Hoppiness is light lime and light grass in nose and taste. Bitterness is low but detectable for an abrupt, light astringent boozy sweet finish;Wet after taste. Easy and sweet watery to mouth.

Commments: With this brew, I just can’t help but to think someone must have diluted a decently-made, high-abv strong Ambree (in the caliber of Bush’s beers) , into this watery half-arsed product. all the attribute of a liquor-ish, sweet and boozy Belgian amber ale is ruined its really watery effect. Disappointing.

Robe orangée, légèrement opaque. La mousse se forme et tient bien. Saveurs de caramel bien marquées. On sent bien les fruits jaunes. Longue en bouche. Une bonne ambrée.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Orange amber beer with good white head. Sweet orangy aroma with hints of caramel and a sour touch. Taste is not bad, but the aftertaste is a bit unpleasant.

01-11-2015 - It comes in a very special bottle, but I didn’t like the taste at all.

TtV (467) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - MAR 15, 2015
Bottle 33cl. Hazy amber coloured with a medium white top that fades somewhat. Aroma has malts and a sour touch which is pleasant. The taste is mostly dry, with touches of bitterness. Lots of Co2. Surprising for an amber, but not my cup of tea.

ClubGonzo (5685) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 13, 2015
Bottle. Pours a clear light amber body with a large creamy off-white head. Nose is nougat, white sugary Belgian yeast ester tones, straw, caramel and hints of red fruits and almonds. Taste is red fruits, straw, alcohol, caramel and hints of nougat, almonds and white sugar. Medium body, medium to high carbonation. A fair enough strong Belgian amber ale, without making any considerable impression.
