3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a cloudy orange from the bottle (not really an amber color at all). Thin head, no lacing to speak of. Good crisp carbonation. Strong hop flavor (bitter and biting), but not overpowering. Nice hop aroma as well. This seems more like a pale ale than an IPA or APA. It doesn’t tip the hop balance in either of those directions.
Bottle; not really sure when I got this. Poured a dull, murky gold. Aroma of sweet fruit and bread. Flavor was fairly bland and boring. Some fruitiness and maybe citrus, caramel and bread. alexandersh (196) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - JUL 7, 2013
Bottle; Poured golden amber with large off white head. Aroma: Bread/ Tropical fruit. Flavor: Tropical fruit/ Bread and yeast. Tastes of spice with an interesting almost banana finish. brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - MAY 19, 2011
A: The beer pours a pale golden orange color with a soapy white head.
S: Very light on the aroma. Some light fruits like pears and apples. Hints of spice, lemon zest, and some straw. Lemon candy sweetness/sourness to it which is sort of strange.
T: A big lemon flavor, leaning toward lemon candy. Light fruitiness with the same pears and apples that were present on the nose. A weird sort of straw flavor and a mild sweetness to it.
M: Light in body with a medium level of carbonation.
O: This was a really weird beer. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really taste like it should have... DarkElf (3067) - La Jolla, California, USA - FEB 4, 2011
UPDATED: MAR 2, 2011 04-Feb-11 (12-oz bottle: Purchased 18-Jan-11 for $1.29 at Total Wine & More in Tustin, CA) Well, this beer is infected. I just bought this and the bottle and label look newly brewed and packaged, no fading or tears, but there is no bottling date, so it’s hard to say. The beer used to be contract brewed at the now-defunct Coast Range brewery, but the label says San Jose now, not Gilroy. The flavor is tart and lemony like a Berliner Weisse with a bit of dustiness, but the finish tastes like apple skin and soapy dishwater in the finish. Smells like lemon and tart fruit for the most part, with dusty cobwebs and hint of medicine/band aid. Medium acidity, light body, high carbonation. The beer is a hazy golden color and the off-white head pours very large due to the excess carbonation. Clearly not what the beer is supposed to be (perhaps a pale or golden ale?), but it’s a sour beer now. AmEricanbrew (7080) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - JAN 7, 2011

Pours a light orange color with a white fluffy head. Aroma is malty with big earthy hops. Flavor is light malt, and a bitter grassy, earthy hop finish. beerguy101 (5364) - Newark, California, USA - APR 11, 2007
This APA pours a light gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and sweet. Medium bodied American Pale Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are slightly earthy and a touch floral. Kind of mild tasting. A touch sweet and fruity, seems more of a golden ale than an APA. Drinkable, but nothing memorable. There are lots of beers out there that fall into this category. Well made and tasty, but similar to 1000s of other beers out there. Not that’s it a bad thing. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. vyvvy (6835) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - MAR 27, 2007
Thanks to Beerdrenched for sharing this CA brew. Pours light copper with a small whitish head. The aroma is grassy and grainy with light pale malt and minor hops. Medium / thin body with a small amount of sharp carbonation. The taste is fairly watery with light spice and unpleasant citrus (not in the hoppy way). The finish is fairly sour. This was part of a beer night where after this beer Beerdrenched quickly made up for a few duds.
