COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Roundness to be enjoyed by the side of an open fire! We wanted to create a more palateful, stronger beer, but without spices, unlike the majority of Christmas beers. The work therefore first of all focused on the selection of the barley malts. We needed a mixture of five different barley malts for obtaining the dark ruby colour and the body that we wanted. Then, we wanted hops that were not too strong, in order to contribute to that typical roundness of winter beers. This is why we have mainly opted for the Slovenian Styrian Golding, not very bitter, but used in great quantity and combined with a little Cascade, for a very fine hopping."

Bottle. (thanks SirLimpsalot) A bit hazy dark red with a medium head. A bit thin and sweet with malt, chocolate, some perfume and light roasted. Nothing special.

@ Gyllenbock 14-12-13: ganska medioker både i doft och smak. Söt och maltig med liten beska. Känns lite intetsägande. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone ---- Soberness not garanteed!

Flaska ur belgolådan. Komplex maltig kropp. Elegant smak av humle, vin, äpple och belgisk jäst. Mycket trevlig och välbalanserad öl.

Nose is sweet, cloves, dates, slight, woody note, licorice, slight hazelnut. Taste is very faithful to the nos - very nutty, light wood, dates, a little licorice, a gentle chocolate emerges in the finish, leading to light spices. Mouthfeel is quite thin for a Christmas beer . I am a little underwhelmed by this, it’s nice enough, but I find the nut flavours overwhelm.

Opaque dark red, strong white head. Very vague aroma, some licorice and roastiness. Sweet and spicy, but not obnoxiously so. Chocolate and toffee notes. Finishes a bit watery. Quite nice, could be more full-bodied.

Cazeau’s Christmas ale, a very dark brown beer with light beige head; sweet and malty, candied dates, blackcurrant, caramelly and somewhat chocolatey maltiness with a gentle coffee-like roasted bitterness in the end. Again a Christmas beer in the old Scotch style without explicitly admitting it’s a Scotch. Very good, though.
