Nuttiness is predominate in the nose accompanied by caramel and baked bread. Medium to chestnut brown with a decent off-white head. Sweet with just enough bitterness to balance. Medium bodied with a sweet nutty finish.
12 oz pour at Deer Park at Biltmore. Balanced nutty easy drinking. Good with dinner.

Medium brown pour from a rather bland looking bottle. Little head or lacing. Aroma is pleasant - toffee, caramel with light chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor starts out the same, a little thin with a light body but pleasant enough, but doesn’t open up terribly well. I moved on from this one without finishing it all. Drank about 9-10 oz. Color is dark bourbon. Aroma is malty but not too strong. Taste is malty and smooth. Mouthfeel is nice and smooth. Aftertaste does not longer. Good balanced. Better than their pale.
*4 oz pour in flight at Biltmore.

On tap at Biltmore tavern (5/19/15). Mild malt nose with a bit of caramel, light neutral fruit and some herbal hops. Moderate coppery brown clear with thin head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Lightly flavored brown ale, with light caramel and sweetish malt notes. Mild nutty character and a bit of hop bitterness. Carbonic tang with nutty finish and after. No nose to speak of. Smooth taste and decent malty sweetness but pretty bland overall. I drain poured the last part of the glass.

Draft sample at Cedric’s Taven at the Biltmore near Asheville, NC; clear darker brown color with off-white head. Aroma notes of roasted malt, caramel, toast and some nuttiness. Taste adds some more nutty sweetness with some earthy bitterness. Light-medium body, moderate-low carbonation, creamy with light sweet roast finish. Pretty solid brown ale, enjoyed. suprchunk (2994) - EffOff, Florida, USA - JUN 22, 2015

Aroma: The nose is light, sweet malts, toast, some caramel, and some nutty notes
Appearance: Pours a mostly clear brown color with a decent sized head and medium lace
Flavor: The taste is clean and a little sweet, malty, with a good balance from the light bitterness
Palate: It drinks very nicely, with a clean and smooth mouthfeel, and a nice finish
Pretty nice example of an English style brown. It isn’t an out of this world beer, just a clean, drinkable, enjoyable one. There’s always a place for that.
Thanks to Marshall Hutcheson for bringing this back from North Carolina --- Clear amber brown color with a 1" rocky beige head and a broken curtain of lace. Aroma of caramel malt - quite appealing. Taste is clear malt with just a bit of caramel that grows as it enters the palate, showing molasses and a bit of hazelnut. On the swallow, light bittering enters, keeping everything properly aligned. On one hand, a simple brew. On the other, an outstanding Brown Ale that I’d be willing to drink every day. kaser (6430) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 27, 2014
Draft pour at the Biltmore at Cedrics. Brown with white foamy head - like a guiness head. Slight nutty aroma. Taste is a sweet smooth carmel spicy and mildly nutty. I like this.
