Pierre Celis created the original Hoegaarden beer in the early 1960’s. Interbrew-Labatt bought the brand and the brewery in the 1980's. Pierre Celis formed a new brewery in Austin Texas, brewing the same beer but under the brand name Celis White. Miller bought the Celis brewery and the Celis White brand-name in 1996. The brewery closed in 2000. In late 2002 Michigan Brewing bought the Celis White brand from Miller. Brouwerij Van Steenberge is now brewing the original Pierre Celis White under the brand-name Celis White in Europe and Ertveld's Wit in North America.

Uma witbier sensacional. Muito cheirosa. Vale muito a pena tomar, uma das melhores no estilo witbier. Veio na assinatura mensal da Onbeer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A truly great wit. (This beer rating was imported from FB and unfortunately lacks any further comments.)

Spicy aroma with carriander, grain and cirtus notes. A bit of sourness in the background. Cloudy dark straw yellow with a small bubbles. Very little head that quickly goes away, leaving a bit of lace. Cirtus/lemony taste, slightly sweet and very crisp with a small bit of sourness.. Very fizzy on the tongue. Medium light bodied. Finishes dry and tarty. This is a refreshing beer that I would probably consume in large quantities. 250ml bottle, poured.

Un très très très bonne blanche belge avec un arôme énorme de coriandre et de Curaçao. Classique mais vraiment bon!

White beer is hard enough to find around here. When I had the chance to taste the Belgian Celis (I dearly miss the Austin, TX version), I jumped at it. It didn’t disappoint me. Still a great white beer.

Looks citrusy. Smells strongly of citrus and wheat. Palate is smooth and even. Taste extremely fresh, clean, citrus. Overall the freshest cleanest wheat.

A cloud of perfect foam resting on a lovely frosted grey yellow expanse. Beautiful flavor - strong coriander, orange, tangy and spicy. Subtle yet with strength. A truly fine beer. Highly recommended!

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dirty yellow color ale with a large pure white foamy head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of coriander and huge wheat malt notes are very enticing and surprisingly more present then I would have anticipated. Taste is an incredible mix between some coriander with loads of wheat malt with light bubble gum notes and a zesty and citrus finish. Full body with limited filtration and great carbonation. I must admit to being totally surprised by this one; it has some much more character then I would have anticipated and a great balance between all ingredient. Definitively one of the most underrated beer I had a chance to taste recently.

Terrific spicy aroma - coriander, floral hand soap (rose/lavander). Flavor is light yet rich; very lightly tart and perfectly spiced. Interesting, yet refreshing. Superb.
