Tap sample. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted chocolate, coffeel and small alcohol aroma. Moderate sweet roasted coffee malt flavor with a moderate sweet and small alcohol bite finish of average duration. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. shrubber85 (11391) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - FEB 18, 2013
Draft. Ashy lactic chocolate malt aroma. Black with minimal head. Sweet ashy lactic chocolate malt flavor. Not bad - smooth for its ABV. queenholly (3623) - South Whitley, Indiana, USA - FEB 17, 2013
Tap at Cincy Beerfest. Chocolate, coffee, and ash aroma. Near black with a small tan head. Coffee, lactic chocolate, and earthy flavor. Medium body and carbonation. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 17, 2013
Tasted at Cincinnati Winter Beer Fest 2013. Good tan head. Decent lace. Roasty aroma. Chocolate. Bitter taste. Medium to bigger body. Smooth carbonation. Kind of toasty malt, a hint of tobacco. Not bad, but something lacking in the body, I think. Smooth, but little chewiness. Likely too cold for my liking, not something that can be helped in this setting. Little dark fruit notes, some herbal hops. Kind of a sweet molasses finish.

Draft at CWBF - pours dark brown with light brown head and decent lacing. Nose is coffee and caramel. Flavor is dominated by the yeast as in it is just getting better or worse: too mature or immature. Bittersweet. kathouse (1889) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - OCT 7, 2012
Pours deep brown with a thick fat brown foam. I’m glad this tastes better than it smells. Like soured chocolate milk, this one is hard to get by, but once you do, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Lots of chocolate a sweet malt. Full mouthfeel and residual sweetness from the lactose. Finishes long. Just wish the aroma was better. superspak (5587) - Michigan, USA - AUG 25, 2012
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled in late 2011. Pours pitch black color with a fluffy 2-3 finger dark khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Some nice foamy lacing on the glass, with a lot of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of coffee, roasted malt, caramel, milk chocolate, toffee, biscuit, nuttiness, and light fruitiness. Nice and well balanced aromas with good complexity. Taste of coffee, roasted malt, milk chocolate, toffee, toast, nuttiness, and light fruitiness. Fair amount of coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of coffee, milk chocolate, roasted malt, toffee, toast, and light fruitiness on the finish for a good bit. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Very smooth to sip on. Overall this is an excellent imperial milk stout! Great balance of roasted and sweet flavors, with good complexity; and very smooth to sip on. Really enjoyable stuff. bit too much lactose sweetness and not enough roast and complexity for an imperial stout, not quite smooth enough for a milk stout. Not really the bests of both worlds, but not bad.

Bottle shared by a friend. Darkest brown pour with a huge tan head. Malty and roasty nose with dark fruit and chocolate notes. Chocolate and dark fruit in the flavor with some booziness before a bitter roasty finish.
