COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A hoppy brown ale very close to our heart. Tim has been brewing this beer since his early days as a homebrewer. It’s a recipe he has constantly adjusted in his efforts to make a deliciously floral, piney, somewhat hoppy, brown ale. This beer is loaded with flavors from the rich malts and a pleasantly firm but not overbearing bitterness. The end result is a damn tasty brown ale with a nice hop kick.

Draft. During my bachelor party long weekend in the san francisco area, @ Cellarmaker in 30 minutes, last one. Brown pour with light head. Roasted, mildly herbal and floral, some sweet tones.

For only 24IBUs this beer tastes much more bitter to me, actually far too bitter for the style and backing malt. These guys make other beer that are much better. Cellarmaker SF.

Draught at Gourmet Haus. Roast is slightly high on this one and drowns out the hops. Pretty clear brown with dissipating head but nice pacing down glass. Taste is bitter and roasted malt.

Draft at brewery. Ruby light brown. Lasting tan head. Light body. Dry. Mild to moderate bitter. Hops stand out to me. Toast and light caramel maybe. No roastiness. Basic but well made brown.

just to show they are not good at only hoppy brews, there’s this - a fantastic light malty brown ale. While it does show a touch more hops than a traditional english brown, it’s the malt and sessionability that stand out.

culchiem (3929) - Berlin, GERMANY - JUL 1, 2015
Draught. Nut brown with a solid head. Aroma is fruity hop. Flavour is roasted sweet chocolate, fruity hop throughout. Lingering caramel finish.

Draft. Aroma of toast. Medium lace. Flavors of mocha, faint orangey citrus and cola, with the hops keeping it all from being at all sweet. Finish is a bit pithy, but not sweet. Lots of good things going on here.

brokensail (16436) - Dublin, California, USA - DEC 30, 2014
On tap @ Cellarmaker. Very dark brown with a light reddish hue and tan head. Really strong roasted malt and coffee grounds. A bunch of pine, dark cocoa powder, and a hint of smoke. A bit of a roasted walnut thing going on. Flavor is kind of bitter and roasty but does have some good coffee to it. Quite nutty and a touch ashy. Kind of herbal, woody, and chalky on the finish.

3.7
marcus (10146) - Sacramento, California, USA - DEC 15, 2014
On tap at Cellarmaker. Pours dark brown with a modest tan head and a floral aroma. There is a medium-bodied roasted malt flavor with a very dry slightly bitter finish.
